Cranfield
Are many other people noticing that even though the rape is getting very high, the 10-12 ft strip round the edge of the fields that some Farmers have left, has become a magnet for the pigeons ? Don't ignore this benefit, two short trips in the last few days, gave me some good sport.
Guest Mr Pieman
With the Agricultural Stewardship Scheme currently being promoted, more and more farmers will be deliberatley leaving a 6 metre headland - in return for funds from the Government Hurrah for us PP
Catamong
Pieman, The 6 metre strip you refer to won't benefit us Pigeon shooters as it has to be left as "set aside" - it's OK for rabbits, but on the farms that I shoot over, there's nothing to attract the woodies onto it - you can't even drive over it to reach other nearby fields. Cranfield
DoubleH, I think it will give the birds better access to high standing crops, like rape and cereals. Also, in my area the set aside fields get a lot of attention from the pigeons, so that can't be bad either.
