f.a.c.sam
The 140 and 170 refer to the diameter of the lense. The 170 is obviously bigger and brighter and has a longer range beam but is heavier and more cumbersome. If you click on the link at the end it will take you to the uttings website the mounts are included and so is a dimmer switch which goes on your stock. You will need to buy a battery pack for it as it does not come supplied with one. The deben one however is ludicrously expensive whereas you could purchase a small lead acid battery, which is like a car battery but smaller and lighter and buy a cigarette lighter attachment to go on the battery which you could then connect your lamp to. It would work out at around £30 from fleabay which is what i did and then i just carry it in my rucksack. As a rough guide you're looking at £125 for the lamp then say £30 for the battery. Uttings seem to be pretty cheap here's the link http://www.uttings.com/?categories/Shootin...ers/Lightforce/ scroll down to the Lightforce Scope Mounted Sights and its the VP8256 - RMSM170 Striker 600m Variable Beam one you want. hope this helps
Chev
Nice one mate thats it thats the one am gunna order that one in abit then, is there a reason you tell me to go for the bigger one? as i'll only be shooting no further than 40yds i wouldnt have thought This home made battery you mentioned and that i keep reading about, how do you charge it up? and is there a step by step thread (would love diagrams) on how to do this and what battery to buy etc etc Thats loads of help thanks FAC sam really ish Cheers again Chev
Dougy
have a look at the tracer attom. its more suitable than the 170, IMO its far too big for what you "need", it will get in the way too often, you want something small with enough light to be able to spot rabbits about 100yards off so you can stalk to withing range. sid the sniper
Why do you want something as big as that for an airrifle? If you have it on full power youll spotting lots of rabbits, but the ones you dont see will be off, i bought a tracer max and that is way overpowered for an air rifle, why waste your money on something s big as that? Battery wise i use batteries rom rideon lawn mowers which i have lots of at work and cost me nothing.

f.a.c.sam
I was merely going on what he wanted I thought it was a bit overpowered even for a rimfire, the smaller tracers such as the tracer max pro would be much better as sid the sniper mentioned as realistically you are only going to be shootng at less than 50 feet. They are available on the same website that i put in my post. Regarding battery you need to decide on how long you want the battery to last and then get the amp hour battery that corresponds to that you don't really want more than 20 A/H for what you are doing as any bigger than that and they are alot bigger and heavier. Here's a link to a battery which will do fine and then a 12v ciarette lighter attachment all you will need to do then is buy a trickle charger and you're sorted. Please check the tracer max pro is a 12v attachment before you buy the battery etc as i am only familiar with the lightfore handheld model. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/12V-20AH-GOLF-TROLLE...%3A1%7C294%3A50 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/12v-Scooter-Cigarett...%3A1%7C294%3A50

f.a.c.sam
That is the correct lamp. The battery i gave you the link for was a rough guide you dont have to get that exact one you can get any other similar one the reason i bought it was because it was lite and small. If you click the link below in my previous post, it will take you to a page where you can by the cigarette lighter attachment. You can use any trickle charger you can find you can get them off the net or pop into halford or a local diy store and they will be able to help you. Sorry if i have caused any confusion. Good luck mate
f.a.c.sam
Have just read the description properly and it already comes with a battery and mains charger so you dont have to purchase anything extra. Just the deben tracer atom pro and you're away Edited May 24, 2009 by f.a.c.sam
