J@mes
we are hoping to pick up our lab bitch puppy in first week of July (8 weeks old), but we are also having to look after the in-laws boarder collie for the last two weeks in August. is there likely to be an issue with this? we can keep them separated while we are out of the house, but is there any thing else we need to be concerned about? thanks, James
WGD
Not as long as your in laws BC has it's vacs up to date. Keep an eye on pup pestering the older dog and introduce the two beforehand if possible.
stokie
As long as the pup has had its vaccinations before its let into the outside world there is no reason why it shouldnt be socialised. Dont let your dog get too boisterous with others and dont let it get bullied by others as these are the impressionable days that will build your dogs character. al4x
you'll be fine but once all the jabs are done let them mix a bit on a few occasions, some collies can be a bit sharp so best to make sure its not going to have a go at your pup. Early days are where you make yourself a good dog with the right kind of socialisation. The more the better but just make sure its with dogs that aren't going to start.
