On normal driven game shoots, what sort of price are the avrage shotguns: silvr pigeons and the likes or purdey and hollands?

It depends where you shoot, what you shoot, who you shoot with etc. You can't put an average figure on it.

On a more serious note, if you're not doing big bags, i would say anything up to maybe 200 you'll not be out of place with a silver pigeon at about £1300 new.

 

However if you are looking to get a nice pair of 1920s/30s Holland & Holland's or Purdey's you are going to be looking at £50,000

is the baretta 687 a respectable gun and what about side by sides?

Yes the 687 is a well respected gun, in its EL to EELL forms (tasty wood and engraving) will perfom and look in vogue on any shoot.

 

SXS are still well cool for game days, and I like to see guns turn up with them on our shoot (it normally means they can shoot!), once the 'only gun' to have, sadly all to rare these days.

 

When I retire I have promised myself a 20g Beretta SxS (probably a 626).... very very pointable gun!
