as i said, quick but dumb question. my scope came with a 4" screw on sunshade. if im using the scope with it on in low light conditions (dawn/dusk) would i be right in saying the sunshade will affect the scopes light gathering capabilities? (just an ordinary scope, not nv).

im just being a lazy *** and getting fed up screwing it on/off all the time (defo need it on cos the place im shooting at the mo im shooting into the sun in the evenings, not poss to shoot from a different point) so just wanted to make sure

cheers!

I tend to leave the sunshades on the two big scopes that have them. They're obviously an asset when shooting in the hat of the day, but can help when lamping solo. I am sure the sunshades are detrimental to light gain at night, but I'm not fussed.

It's a personal supposition, fister. I assumed that leaving the 4" sunshade on shooting in low light without a lamp, deprives the objective lens of some light.

yep sorry should have pointed out were not using a lamp (at the mo), we get a 30 min window at dusk when the rabbits come out
