Steve29
Hi all, i'm new to the forum and looks as though you guys might be able to help with a dilemma. I currently have an AYA No2 which I use for pigeon, driven shoots and also clays. I'm starting to shoot more clays than I have before and the AYA is not really any good for them, i'm black and blue after flushes! So, i'm off to invest in a 12 bore o/u for the clays and some of the pigeon shooting, depending on how much I like what I buy! I do neither daily or anything at the moment, but I will be shooting more and more so want something that'll last. I've got about £800 and from research I seem to have a few options: new Lincoln Premier or Bettinsoli Diamond or second hand Miroku MK38 or MK70. Anyone used or own any of these and have any advice on what might be the best option for me? Read something that said the MK38 is a good gun but no good for trap? al4x
I'd buy the Miroku over the others as second hand you'll get a better gun for the money, once you buy and use an O/U I'll bet you use it for everything simply because you'll shoot better with it. Toombsy
Hello mate. I have both an MK38 and MK70. The MK70 is a sporter... the MK38 is a trap gun. If you're thinking of buying a Miroku, I would suggest trying out the MK70 and MK60 as they are slightly different stock configurations so one will fit you better than the other - and they are both perfect for all round use. Steve29
Thanks guys, you've helped confirm what i thought, second hand is best (on this occasion!) Al - one of the reasons I love the AYA and will be keeping it is that it makes for challenging shots on the driven shoots, it's too easy with an o/u Like you say though, I expect i'll be using it quite a bit for the pigeon, they're challenging enough as it is! Toombsy - good to know they'll both dust a clay and drop a bird, that's just what i'm after. I was actually leaning more towards the MK70 than the 38, just seems a nicer gun. I'll try both though before making the decision. Thanks
Highlander
Buy one of those cheap guns new even though they are very good value for money and you'll regret it when you come to sell it but buy a pre owned (as s/h is usually a misnomer and misrepresents the issue) Miroku and it'll hold it's value far better. LXX73
Wouldn't hurt to try out a Beretta 686E, also good all round guns.
andy33
Hi Steve, When i started shooting i bought a Miroku mk70 30" sporter right handed, from Bates at Doveridge, i used it a couple of times on my permission and to be honest it knocked me black and blue and i went straight out and bought a b80 for pigeon etc and my Miroku sits in the cabinet unused cause to be totally honest i hav'nt been clay shooting at all, if your interested i'd take 650 for it, just drop me a pm, i'm in no rush to sell and i already know i can get this when i trade in so please no offers. Cheers andy.
Steve29
Thanks Andy, i'll do that. L - looked at Beretta 686E but my local (ish) store has them marked up at £950. Too much for me to stretch too unfortunately!
