kev 1
I would lose the head light, it is probably spooking them, and get within 25 yards of them, and when there eye is lit up by the light aim for that area, but make sure it is your chosen vermin...Also try to get a red filter on your light Edited June 6, 2009 by kev
Sqwelchy
Why a red filter?
kev 1
The rabbits or vermin will become lamp shy to the white light,so a red,or other coluored lens available, they dont seem to bothered with....I think most people use the red ones
Sqwelchy
cheers would a brighter light be better than a 6v one?
kev 1
Maybe, but try with what you got and see how you get on......Go to where you know they are and sit and wait and ambush them, its easier....
harveykeitel22
na 6v should be fine for what ur doin, or if u wanted to go brighter, get a 12v deben mini tracer
Spaniel
Or fit a tesco torch C cell to your scope that will do for an air riffle over that distance
casts_by_fly
I'd be willing to bet it is range estimation. Air rifles are sensitive to range estimation, especially once you start talking 40 yards and a 12 ft-lb gun. At night, it is much harder to judge distance because you don't have the same reference points to judge from. Set up some A4 targets in the daylight and come through at night and shoot them from unknown ranges (make a shooting point in the daylight so you know you're safe). Lamp them like rabbits and see how far off you are in your estimations. Thanks Rick

Only 1 rabbit out and i missed the little blighter ,i dont think it helps that basal (the fox) is out playing . But tommorow im gunna set up my light and mounts instead of using the light taped to the barral
