alfa taf
I have been Shooting Clays for the last two or three years now after having being Rough Shooting all my life. I find that if I shoot well in the first or second station I then am quite consistent and shoot well trough the rest but if I miss a couple -especially easy ones- everything seems to go wrong and miss a lot!! I know it,s all in ones mind and I should treat every clay as it,s presented as if it is the first clay and not thing of the ones I have missed but some how I dont seem to be able to do it. Any ideas of how to overcome this any "tricks" or thoughts about it?

hurstpol
I am useless all the time but I do go on the have a go stand before starting on the shoot just to warm up, but saying that it does not do me much good, years of being a full bore target shooter has ruined me for clays, I cant help it! Frank Carry on, that's what I do regardless.!! Maybe what has ruined my Clays performance is the fact that I have been rough shooting for so many years, and I am not getting any younger !! How does the saying go. You cannot teach an old dog new tricks !!

Frank Thank God I'm not the only one!!!!!!!!!!! I'm slowly (very) learning that it's down to instinct, when I have a go at a target that I wasn't expecting or thought I'd lost I tend to hit it, easy targets and I aim.....................and miss. Mr Potter
Get local recommendations for a good coach and take some lessons. You will wince at the price probably but it will be money very well spent if it drags you from say 50% to 70%. No instructor and you will take years & years to improve, basically because you don't know what your doing wrong. Well meaning mates who stand behind you and tell you you're behind/over the top/underneath/in front might be right (usually they are wrong) but a coach will tell you WHY you are missing not WHERE. I should have taken my own advise really, it has taken me over 20 years to drag myself up to A class but I'm still not consistent, 72 one week and 86 the next. The one thing that helped me was I was lucky enough, after a couple of years, to start shooting with good AA and A class shots and whilst they didn't coach me as such I learned an awful lot by observing them. It was luck though, I'm not suggesting you ditch your mates to become a better shot  Here endth the first lesson. Mr Potter
