ProteuS
Hi, I've just got a cz .17 hmr and really rate it, however the bolt action on it isn't silky smooth. I was wondering if there was any way to help make it a bit smoother, I have put quite a bit of oil on, and it helps but only lasts a relatively short period of time. I'm a little weary of putting too much oil on in case it has a detrimental effect. I had wondered about a few dabs of grease or a dry lube, but wouldn’t want it picking up dirt and turning into a grinding paste. What would you chaps recommend? lineshooter
My Cz 550 was the same when new, I just oiled and worked it a lot, its smoothing up nice now. I noticed a lot of posts on American website`s where people were saying that the bolt was the only thing that lets the rifle down and what could they do to make it slicker. There were a lot of counter posts, all more or less saying they get better with use, and no need to go to the extent of polishing. The Cz`s seem to have a good name over there, which for a nation critical of poor firearms is no bad thing. Kevin
Ozzy Fudd
get the bolt jewelled maybe?
ProteuS
Thanks for the replies, I'll try some oil and see if it frees up a bit before i spend any more on it (still looking for a 22 semi auto). As a side note, to remove the stock on the varmint do you just need to undo the three screws on the trigger guard? I was going to have a look into adjusting the trigger but the screws at the ends seem extremely tight.
Edward
Why dont you polish the bolt. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ohCUBaaQbW4 that might ease it up
Peter_HMR
Mine was like that when new. I would lightly oil it with a few spots and a oily rag so theres no excess and it will ease up over time. Alternatively you can work the bolt at home when the rifle is unloaded. 20-50times a night for a week would make an awful difference.
