Wookie
Well, took the plunge yesterday and bought an iPhone. So, I was spending this morning loading up with applications from the app store when I saw Bulletflight and Ballistic, two professional looking ballistics calculator applications. Whilst it's probably not much use to a vermin shooter with a .22 and a .17HMR, I'm tempted by them for toy value and also for when/if I get to Bisley and get to shoot my friend's .308. They are a bit pricey though and, before I splash the cash, I was wondering if anyone had bought them, used them, or seen them in action, and whether they were any good. Anyone? AndyCM
I have the ballistic (£5-£6 version) & it's good. Loaded about 5x .223 loads a few .243 loads & 7mm-08 x4 that will keep me going. Also reloading data is saved too. Lots to play with for £6. Cheers AndyCM
silver_fox
I bought the cheapo version of Ballistic and compared it with the freebie ballistics software I normally use: http://www.eskimo.com/~jbm/cgi-bin/jbmtraj_simp-5.0.cgi and found it to be very similar. I used it for my .223 homeloads which I knew the muzzle velocity of and found it to be pretty accurate at 600yds - my first shot was on the target about 1 1/2 MOA from the v-bull, not too bad and the best thing is I can take it to the range and adjust the windage settings throughout the day. Off to Bisley soon to shoot the .308 at 1000yds so we'll see how good it is at that range.
