it was 9pm and i was not ready for bed, i decided to take the dog for a walk on a permission and threw the shotgun and the air rifle in just in case, it was such a nice evening that i wasn't bothered about the shooting just fancied being out at dusk.

got onto the field at about 9.20pm and let the dog out, grabbed the shotgu and put a couple of carts in, cartridge bag over my shoulder and off we went, 40 yards up along a hedgerow then turn 90 degrees to start following the hedge and saw a big dog fox about 50 yards away, it just stood looking at me before turning and slowly moving off.

i knelt down and squeeked the fox it stopped dead in its tracks and turned its head back to me, this time not being able to see me, and as i continued to squeek it started moving towards me ( i had no intention of shooting it, wrong load etc - over to you sparkie !) but was just appreciating what great animals they are, i got it to within about 40 yards before it bounded off at pace, that was it i thought but on my way back to the landy, it bolted out of the hedge not more than 20 yards away.

A nice start to the evening

Anyways on this first little stroll around i noticed a bunny sitting farily tight, it would be a nice little stalk, wind and hedgerows in my favour, it was the only one i had seen, so it was a swap to the air rifle

the bunny was squat 1/2 way between the 3rd and 4th tree, the wind was going left to right and was squat 15 yards into the field

i got into the field roughly where the pic was taken and moved along to my left and then up along the hedgerow to the second tree, sat for 30 secs composed, it was about a 35 yard shot, so a tiny bit of holdover, i set myself up kneeling as the stubbles / grass was a little long to shoot prone and lined the coney up, gentle squeeze and the HW100 did the rest - a frosby flop by the bunny got a 9 out of 10 and off i went to pick up

i was happy enough with the one so strolled back to the landy and hocked it over the wing mirror

and took five and admired the view as the sun went down...........................

all in all a great night and just about sums up everything i love about shooting in one night which i was only out for about an hour of, you get to see nature in all her beauty, the countryside in all her beauty, have a nice little stalk, bag a bunny and have a nie hour with the dog too -and to think i was going to stay in and watch big brother !!!!!!!!!!!
