rickyspringer
One thing I love is peoples views on Springer Spaniels, what lines you rate, what you don't. How you prefer your dogs to look, what you think of dogs out of Clarburgh Art, and all the other good un's. Look forward to your personal opinions, I know this has been done a fair few times but feel this part of the forum has gone quiet. rickyspringer
My views are, I like the old standard of Springer, Heavily marked, steady and tough. I prefer BW & of small stature, with a nice broad head. I think Clarburgh Art's statistics are unreal, his record speaks for itself,ie the number of his pups which have gained good FTCH status, but I think he has been used far to many times as a stud, and what are his off spring like in a basic working home??? trialling in my eyes is a total different world. Windy
Have had four springers. All liver/white - which is my fave. My last three have all been (by happy coincidence) Badgercourt / Rytex related. So in conclusion, thats the puppy for me, so to speak. Windy
does anyone know anything about a breeder called Peter Haines?
MC
My Springer has heavy badgercourt lines with Susan, Dusty, Firecracker and of course Moss in his pedigree. Along with Readhead Riley and Follybreeze pip. He is a well built dog, not like the prefered trialling dogs of today. I would look for badgercourt lines in my next one. I don't know enough about the Rytex lines to have an opinion, Openshaw obviously is doing something right.
rickyspringer
I agree he is definitely doing something right, but I have spoke to a number of real dog men and so on and alot of people won't touch this rytex line!! I don't know to much about it, but supposedly very nervy,no good in built up area's,very hot and also sensitive!!! I prefer Badgercourt, my bitch has got alot of that and a decent welsh line in her, "Flintmountain" She's Rytex free and I am keeping my line that way, Going with a Newflame stud next time and then I will use "Brynwillw Echo Of Miliscer" on my next Bitch. The be all and end all is that its preference, Because at the end of the day most Springer Pedigrees have both Rytex & Badgercourt, like windy has mentioned, its hard to avoid the two most popular. rickyspringer
I'm with you fallarben, the amount of times art has been used he was sure to have some success, cracking shout on boris, is he still going and do you know where he is based??? I like Cheweky Wolf, but I feel he gets used alot too, I like somethig which isn't so popular, something no as flashy in appearance, what do you think of the edwardiana lines??? I know John Edwards has had some great success,he lives just up the road from me.
