roadkill
Woodpigeon shooting is controlled by the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 in Britain and the Wildlife (Northern Ireland) Order 1985 in Northern Ireland. Woodpigeons may be killed or taken by authorised persons at all times. It is strictly prohibited to use any sound recording or live bird as a decoy. Currently woodpigeon shooting continues under general licences issued by Defra for England and Welsh Assembly Wales, the Scottish Executive Environment Group for Scotland and the Environment and Heritage Service for N. Ireland. No individual application is required for any licence. These licences authorise shooting for the purposes of preventing serious damage to livestock, foodstuffs for livestock, crops, vegetables and fruit, recognition must be given to this condition. So what it is saying in easy terms , is that you dont need a licence as in a hard copy as were are covered by it as long as we are shooting the pigeons not as a sport but for crop protection

casts_by_fly
yes, that is correct. You don't need a physical copy of the license and there is nothing you need to do in order to be able to use the license. However, you have to make sure that you've read the license before you go out and you know the conditions of its use. As noted, you're shooting pigeons for crop protection or another listed reason. You've tried alternative means or have reasons why you have and they wouldn't work. Read the license. Thanks Rick
MPT1
I recently started work on a building site where large numbers of feral pigeons were nesting in the steels. I was asked to eliminate them would I have been legal doing this?
