Dexon
Hi all im new to the forum, i have a few questions The first question is to to with the 50 foot rule from the centre of a highway. Does the 50ft apply to what your aiming at or from where you shooting from. I ask as the land i shoot from has a hedge row next to a highway, can i shoot from this hedge row into the field? Also i am getting good shots on pigeons in the chest, a huge amount of feathers is coming off them but they seem to fly away. I am using the Acupel Vermin 22's and know the guns power is enough, i have the Webley FX200 thanks in advance Dexon
Axe
Welcome to the forum Dexon. Yes you can shoot from your boundary into the field. You can also shoot along or across a 'Public Area' as long as you do not injure or frighten or prevent a member of the public by doing so and that you have reasonable excuse for doing so. Your pellet must also land on your permission. If ever in doubt, dont take the shot. Regards, Axe.
Jon-Boy
If youre shooting in the cheast, they most likely are full of crop (food storage area in their cheast) This will be absorbing the power of your shot, hence it will fly away. The pigeon will most probably drop out of the sky about a mile later. Same was happening with me and a few others on sunday whilst out shooting for pigeons. We were using the shotgun (12) and we had a few runners, even though they were in the dead center of our pattern. You can see the feathers move but they just take it. Go for neck and head shots with the rifle, or if you get a shot from the back, between the two wings is a good place, try and wait for them to spread the wings if possible, because they are like armour.
