JonnyR
All, I am now confused, again. I have been thinking about buying a small lamp for my AA410K for rabbiting at night. It appears that the Atom light is available as both a tactical and a pro version both with dimmers and probably without. What is the difference between the Pro and the Tactical, is one 6V and the other 12V? Is it just the size of the batteries? Or something else? Most importantly, which one should I get and why? Deben's website is as useful as a chocolate fireguard. cheers,
smithy73
the tactical has a battery pouch which fits over the butt, and the battery which is flat goes in,the other lamp has a battery pouch which goes on your waist. The 12v is the better of the two but more expensive rrp £129,but look around it does say you get 60 mins with constant use but if you turn the brightness down, and turn it on and off you get much longer out of it.I am thinking of selling mine so i can get something, with longer usage,if your interested then i would be looking at £80 and i would have to find out how much postage is ok,hope i helped cheers Rich
Dave-G
You can get longer usage from a tactical lamp if you make up a custom battery pack. Mine is 13.2V 2500MAH. Think of the battery as a header tank of DC electricty. There is only so much of it available and like a water tank you can draw it fast for a small period or slower for a longer period. The dimmer swith "pulses" the electricity faster than the human eye can see - and that prevents the full 13.2 Volts getting to the bulb unless you turn it up full, which will be a lot brighter than a 12 volt one. At full intensity the lamp unit will burn out faster than if it were 12 volt powered. Look deep deep deep back into my past threads if you want to learn more. :look: Edited July 13, 2009 by Dave-G
