410 3" cartridge reloading

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone ! Been shooting alot lately with a moderated 410 to shoot pigeons in areas where nosie must be kept to minimum, never had so much fun and it sure does show you how good a shot you are with a 410 :good: anyway im looking into reloading 410 3" inch cartridges lyvale etc, im going to make my own loading tools to keep costs down.Ive been looking at various websites but with the prices of lead and powder im wondering if its worth it considering a 1000 carts cost £196 anyone know any cheap places to but them? i would buy at claygame reloaders, but how many cartridges would you load out of a bag of 10kg of shot at 19gram per cartridge? and the same goes for a tub of the powder? or a overall price per thousand to reload would be good? Can anyone help?

..and about 500 charges from a tub of SP3. The wads, for their size are very expensive. Best to make wad punches for card and felt wads; they seem to be more suited to a Hushpower, and cheaper. Cut to 16grams too, to save shot! As your shells get tattier, cut them down and reduce wad column.

Hand loading .410 is to be recommended as loading presses are geared for the sturdier American cases (hulls) with crimp closures.

Thanks guys for the info. seems like the feature in sporting shooter mag on reloading was just advertising hype for the seller then? there had been another feature in sprorting times which the owner of clay and game reloaders states you can save 60% by reloading your own 410 carts ? ummm got me thinking now...
