kev 1
Are side by sides more awkward to shoot than over and unders and single barrels? And if so why?
teal27
Ive just bought my 1st sxs and it shoots so much better than my o/u and swings easier, my hit rating has gone up too, definately worth having one in my opinion
flippermaj
I shot an O\U for a few years then moved to a SxS as they just felt better to me, O\U now seem very dead in my hands. I shoot as well if not better with the SxS. This may be rubbish but I think you are more of a natural shot then a SxS is the way to go. Great for walked up shooting as well as more comfortable to carry all day. Down sides, more noticeable recoil and muzzle flip, I switched to 24grm steel loads for clays and that made it much better. Pick up a few in the gunshop and see how they feel, they are usually cheap enough as most folk shy away from them so you get a lot of gun for your cash. I think every one should at least try a SxS for a round of clays, lifes to short not to know what it's like!!!!! Cheers Flipper

Shuck.
The difference is its somewhat slightly more complicated to mount just right, from my personal experience. Someone previously said muzzle flip can be awkward if your mount isn't perfect, for instance if you mount the stock a little too far to the left, the muzzle jumps right etc. Shooting is different in that SxS's shoot a lot 'flatter' and don't place shot above the barrels like an Over Under might do. So when you go for a bird you'll often need to cover it up to break it. They are a lot more pleasant to walk around with the weight is very evenly distributed and light as a feather, you can walk around a shoot all day with one under your arm and forget it's there. The forend is usually a lot less 'meatier' so you'll find yourself trying to grip the gun by just holding the forend, do this and have a hard time holding onto the gun. As long as you have a nice firm hold, mount and stance there won't be a problem.. You'll be shootin 28s all day. Very nice lookin guns and great fun to use.
