MC
Isn't red dot for up to an ounce and green dot for over an ounce? If you were loading 1oz loads you would be aboout spot on.
Daveo26
Clicky here It will do 1 1/8 as well but i cant find any data for using fibre. Which sort of ******* the job up. I dont thinks its recommended for anything above 1 1/4. Edited August 20, 2009 by Daveo26
Daveo26
No it seems there are recipes for anything over 1 1/
Vince Green
Go to Clay and Game for any queries. I have loading data for Red Dot loads over 1oz but not for fibre wads. Red Dot is a fast burning powder and will give a sharper recoil than green dot. I think thats the basis for what MC was saying.
Daveo26
Tried it today, loaded as above. There was less felt recoil than 28 gram clay cartridges i was using. Im guessing its because the fibre wads does not form a very effective gas seal compared with a plaswad?? They felt very tame and were clearly qyiter than the other cartridges. Im thinking of using the next bush up for powder and seeing how they feel, that would be .163 which according to load data should give 1200 fps
Vince Green
Fibre wads should give a better seal if anything because they compress to seal the bore where as some plastic wads are quite rigid.
Daveo26
I agree plaswads are more rigid but i always thought they would provide a better gas seal. 9,000 PSI is bound to have an affect on them.
Guest cookoff013
do you still need some data? i`ve been told to use a paralell wall case. powder should be up to 10% more than plastic wad. 3-4mm Over powder card fibre wad (50lbs of pressure) shot. crimp. i`ve got some data for AO and AS vectan. d`you want it?
