claybreaker
was their a legal limit on airguns in 1970? as i shot bsa from around early 1970 and seems quite powerful.
libs
Unless they have been tunned or molested since that time they would be well under-powered now. My meteor (1975ish) couldn't clear a pellet from the spout before I got new springs, seals and all that lot.
huntercarbine
I dont think there was a limit in 1970, think it came about in the 70's though because of the sharpe and sheridan pump ups, being too powerful. dont quote me though. beardy_bradderz
Been 12 ft lbs since 1969 (Dangerous Air Weapons Rules 1969). The only UK made gun in those days that could get close to the limit was the good old BSA Airsporter. Brad
George1990
We have a BSA Airsporter which hasn't had anything done to it since new. Has a trigger pull of about 50lbs and chronos about 9ft/lbs. Also, these take 5.6mm .22 pellets, not 5.5mm .22 pellets. Eley do 5.6mm Wasp pellets which are the best for old air rifles Edited August 26, 2009 by George1990
smokingdragon
That explains it!!!! I haven't had an air rifle since the late '70's (airsporter) but I had left over pellets. I've just bought a Norica Dragon .22 and my old pellets seem a bit tight compared with the new ones!! 5.5 5.6!!
