kier
Is there a way of attracting roe deer that anyone has found works!!
njc110381
It depends how much control you have over the area and how long you're willing to wait? Short term a Deer lick with an apple or aniseed scent will sometimes draw them in. Longer term try planting things that they like. Hawthorn is popular, they like to both eat the shoots and shelter in it. Other high nutrient plants will help keep them in the area but off the top of my head I can't really think of the sorts of plants they like to eat! I'm pretty sure they like the buds on fruit trees.....
kier
Thanks for that , I have full control and I could plant a small copse of hawthorn ,They do like eating my cherry tree leaves on occasion. Ive heard about aniseed , so I might try some. K
scolopax
Part of their staple diet, especially during the winter, is bramble. A thin hawthorn and hazel covert with a good understorey of bramble is like a five star hotel for Roe (an muntjac).
kier
Well ive got lots of bramble under chesnut and some hazelnut too, looks like I need to do more advertising, but im partly cut off by a motorway which is good and bad, I certainly didnt know about bramble though. Thanks for that , im thinking of sinking a water barrel in the ground as well . Is there a good time of day or night for them
