Cranfield
I have never had the opportunity to shoot pigeons over sugar beet, because none is ever grown on the farms I shoot. You certainly had a good session What is it the birds are eating ?
Staffs-Shooter
We have quite a bit of sugar beet on our land but the pigeons seem to prefer the barley at this time. Went out today & they were hitting the clover still (which we are shooting tomorrow) & a small barley blo hole nearby. Blow hole is too small to shot
Fisherman Mike
They nip out the top shoots. Its a bit like spinach and I understand talking to Ted at the Lamb earlier where we shared a few pints of Stowford Press, were originally grown in the 1700,s for the foilage and not the root. lurcherboy
I have done in the past in southern Ireland. Not sure why they like it but it was good sport. There was 6 of us over 500 acres and had a total of 400 odd. Apparently it was a red letter day for the paddies as they dont have that many woodies. I shot 16 LB
