stevethevanman
I belive these people have amazing skill but however I do not belive this is hunting...either that or they do not have a likr for being out in the fresh air at all they just want the thrill of seeing something drop. The animal obviously has no chance, and doesant even hear the shot that killed him...I dont call hitting an animal at 900yds with no chance sporting or fieldcraft skillful Steve
Lancs Lad
This was a very good shot..............infact I would say on a par with many other types of stalking. There are a number of factors that have to be taken in to consideration here..... A great distance shot....and one that was well taken and with skill.................. Personally, I prefer long range shooting........................but thats just me.

The ting about the animal taken at that range and not hearing the shot as you state, means that the meat will be untainted by adrenalin Most animals that are hunted by man with firearms, close or long range, don't have much of a chance, by dint of what it is it is weighted in favour of the man with the gun Just out of interest, your profile says you are into extreme verminating, is that a long or short range? lapwing
All very clever I am sure. Now what happens when they get it a little bit wrong and you have a wounded elk disappearing into a wood at 900 yards, especially in that terrain? Unless you are starving on a deserted island, I respectfully suggest the place for such long distance shooting is on the target range where the price of a pulled shot is paid by dented pride and not an injured animal.
