wildfowler.250
Hi I was just wondering if anyone on here uses salt licks/mineral blocks or fruit to keep deer in an area for shooting? I have an area that has reds and roe in a forrestry,(not sure of numbers on the land though) and I was wondering if anyone could provide any tips to swing things in my favour? Thanks in advance for any replies
dodeer
Only have experience with Fallow but they love apples and whole maize. Whole maize is expensive though so wheat mixed with a bit of mollases syrup works well.

casts_by_fly
salt blocks and mineral licks are popular for white tails in the US, but most people use them incorrectly. The deer are looking for minerals in the spring when they are trying to build body mass back up, build antlers, and grow young. Most people put out their mineral blocks in the fall when they are about the hunt them. Apples and corn will draw deer from all over if there are limited other foods around. I'd imagine if you were in Kent, an apple pile wouldn't be the draw that it would be in north yorkshire. Thanks Rick
