deeksofdoom
Mick Very nice indeed I was thinking of making something similar also with some fallow, did you put any weight in the top of it and I like your knots is that a turks head? any chance you might show me how to do it? mick miller
Yes, it has about 5oz of lead in the end, I drilled into the antler then created a funnel type opening so it's got all the weight at the end. It's a landyard knot, I googled it and there's a host of tutorials, the one off british blades seemed pretty straightforward. I whacked a pigeon with it a few days ago...it's um...very effective  Edited September 23, 2009 by mick miller
danccooke
What did you cap the ends with? I am out stalking in a couple of days, with the camera though. Hoping to find some Antler whilst out and about.

danccooke
Where does one get Buffalo horn from (please do not say Buffalo that bit I am aware of) I take it you cut a disc roughly the right shape and size, Epoxy it in place and sand/file/polish it to the right size? mick miller
I got mine from a game fayre... Chiltern Country Supplies and the whole horn cost me £3.50. I just cut a chunk off to suit the purpose. It's a lot easier than using pre-cut discs. I have to say that the priest has worked out well, it absolutely clatters anything that gets in its way! I cut a chunk to suit, then Dremel it down to a rough size, then wet and dry it through the grades, finishing with 0000 wire wool and final polish with brasso by hand to a high sheen.
