Placeboard training

Hi, I have a young springer pup and got talking to someone who said I should consider placeboard training at some point.

Has anyone had experience using this method? I know Ian Openshaw uses it and has a training dvd which I would buy, does anyone know the cheapest place to buy it?

Thanks

Don't bother, I have it, send me your address and I'll post it to you :good:

I have to say, I've had two young springers both started off with placeboard training before I had them and their delivery was sublime which I'm putting down to that!

I've not used it on any of mine just yet though, I find the dvd showed 'how' but not 'why'. I'm sure we will get round to it at some point!

yeah the DVD doesn't show the full use of the boards its more of a look what you can achieve dvd, the boards though can be a good tool in a trainers box as they sorted out Bullets sit stays as he refused to let me move away without them (all sorted now) the other thing as big bird says the effect on delivery is awesome too this is where i need to work on Bullet although with cold game he don't mess about its dummies and tennis balls he wants to mess around with

Openshaw does explain a bit of the training but a lot of folk say he doesn't go into it enough, definitely worth a watch nd the boards are a great training aid to set the foundations of steadiness and a good delivery they can also be handy with older dogs needing a tune up on delivery
