lowlander
ive just found one of those digital safes under my bed so i fixed it to a wall and took out the batteries so that it is just a normal safe with a lock and key. is this suitable for cartridges lowlander
Ferret Master
Why are you keeping cartridges in a safe mate? Surely you can't fit many in at once? FM
Tommo
Requiremenst only for bullets mate (if you have a rifle) and bolt obviously (in a seporate case to guns) Cartridges just have to be stored in a 'reasonable place' mine are under the bed! Lloyd90
Why take the battery's out ? Your allowed to use a digi safe mate Aslong as your the only 1 that knows the combo! Really mate you don't need to keep carts locked up, but it can't hurt to do it Safe is handy if you want to get your FAC though. I have one for mine
lowlander
i took the batteries out because everyone knew the combination, and i didn't know how to change it lol, im just going to keep it for my bolts incase i get my FAC lowlander
Ninj
Sorry to be pedantic, but you don't legally need to keep your bolt locked seperately to your rifle. It's recommended practice by some police forces and I do it but you only need to put your ammunition in the seperate cabinet/safe/locking compartment. Mec 9000
Do not keep shotgun cartridges in a metal safe, you could be creating a bomb if one goes off. Throw one in an open fire and there is a pop and puff of smoke, chamber one in your gun and you create a small bomb and it exits down the tube to release the pressure. Always check the tubes are clear after a misfire as a wad, mud or snow could cause that little bomb to exit the gun by bursting the barrel. Powder is only an explosive when contained hence it being packaged in cardboard type containers so that should it ignite you would get a great big puff of smoke. The only real explosive in a live cartridge is the primer and even one of them going off can trigger them all. Gerry
