From the basc site

The Home Affairs Select Committee is allowing people more time to submit their evidence to the inquiry into firearms control. Hundreds of shooters have already submitted their evidence. An actual closing date has yet to be decided so BASC urges all shooters to act quickly while this opportunity to submit evidence remains open.

according to an email from the CA

>>>You may have read in this week's "Shooting Times" that the Home Affairs Select Committee on firearms control "experienced such a large volume of emails from members of the shooting community submitting evidence to the current inquiry that its computers crashed". The magazine reports that, as at the submission deadline of 27th August, the clerk of the committee had received over 300 submissions; a huge number<<<

300 submissions a huge number, come on folks regular members from pigeon watch along should double that :good:

I'm sure someone else could do this better than I, but here goes, if you have a better format post it up please

all done in a letter style, with full name addy and contact details, date, whatever

Address the committee, as in Dear Mr vaz or sirs or whatever

tell them this is your submission

tell them of your experience, IE how long you've held licences, may be how often you get out shooting?

tell them what shooting means to you

your thoughts on the current system

what if anything that could be changed to help the licensing system

end it with yours whatever

simples

(might be a good idea to use bullet points, however i did not)

there is no excuses for not doing this, come on guys

I agree with what has been said and just sent in my submission, I left it to the pro's to reference the statistics etc as I am not qualified to do so, SO i Wrote a letter addressed to the committee about what shooting means for me. If 10,000 send a similar letter they should get the message. Don't worry about the "evidence" part too much the BASC etc will have done that, just put fingers to the keyboard and send them what shooting means to you and how you think it can be made safer and better.
