HDF
Hi, a while ago I put an add up in the wanted section for a whip as I have been asked to whip in for a pack. When I went to the CLA game fair on Friday I bought a lash for £23 and a piece of antler for £5. I started filing and shaping the antler to the desired size. I sanded up through the grits all the way up to p4000. I then hollowed out the marrow into a socket about 2 inches long and just over half an inch wide. I then laminated a couple of pieces of oak together with PVA, and then turned it down into a circle on dads metal lathe, (made one hell of a mess). I turned a socket oont the wood and sanded it down. After that I turned a phosphor bronze collar to go imbetween the wood and antler. Then I glued the bronze collar on followed by the antler with a lot of araldite. Once it set I filed and sanded the antler, the wood and the bronze down together for a smooth transition. I then attatched the keeper onto the end of the shaft with araldite and string, glued it down flat, stitched it up, put a slit in it, and passed the lash through.
