  1. From posting my FAC application to receiving my certificate was 10 days! Is this a record or are Northumbria police always this efficient? Either way I'm chuffed to bits.
  2. I know for serving soldiers we can go through the Range Liason Officer for shooting permission. It costs money, not much but it'll give you a years shooting on a couple of hundred acres but you're governed by range standing orders and if the ranges are in use or not. Same applies to the training area land - exercising units have priority over the land.
  3. Hi, I'm in the process of buying a Brno model 2 in .22 and can't find any 10rd magazines anywhere. Does it actually take 10 rd mags? Can I buy for example a cz 452 10 round mag for it? Any suggestions or pointers are greatly appreciated. Cheers.
  4. I'm not sure if you're aware but every time one of our soldier's is repatriated to RAF Lyneham, the nearby town of Wooton Basset comes to a standstill. The cortege passes through the town and all the civvies stand still, removing any hats or headwear and the local British Legion members line the route. Simple but effective and a fitting tribute to the lads.
  5. Glynn can you upload some pictures please? Is the £150 price for the rifle only?
  6. Does anyone know if sloes grow in any sort of numbers in the north east? Where should I be looking for them and is there a particular spot / area where they grow?
  7. Harry's doing a good job of disguising himself there. Especially whilst wearing American MarPat BDU's and carrying American weapons and equipment

    gun tape?

What about this stuff? It's what British army snipers use for camming up weapons and equipment. It's cloth and low tack. Look on ebay for 'sniper tape'.
  9. I've made a few ghillie suits during my time in the army. Cheap, cheerful and extremely effective: Get your hands on an army surplus jacket, preferably with a hood - ebay or similar. Get some hessian sacks (army sandbags are ideal), and a glue gun. Lay the jacket on the floor and apply cut up strips of hessian to it using glue on top edge only. Cover the entire jacket and hood then dump it in the garden for a day or two. Let it get wet, mucky and smelly, ideally until the hessian starts to fray. Viola! One perfect ghillie suit (minus the trousers). You can buy a mesh, airtex type material from some surplus stores for about £40. Don't bother - its a rip off and they fall apart.
  10. Hi guys. I've been trying the door knocking techniques for gaining permission and the results are disheartning to say the least. Do any of you know of any syndicates in Northumberland that I could join. I'm more than willing to pay as long as the prices aren't too exorbitant. Ideally the syndicate would be one where I could turn up on my own or accompanied by a partner at any time. Thanks in advance for any replies.

  12. Pleasure doing business with you Lee. True gent.
  13. I've just signed up with SASC. As I'm a member of The Hunting Life Forum I was given a years cover for £22 (normal subscription is £26 I believe). Done it all over the phone in 2 minutes flat. Covered from the second I put the phone down and card and documentation should arrive by Fiday.
  14. Im interested and can make it to Edinburgh this Wednesday. Can you post pics please?
  15. Alright guys? Just joined PW after a few days of reading the threads. Name's Paul and I'm just starting to get into the pigeon / rabbit shooting world after years of wanting to but never having the time due to work (army). Finally got some sort of stable lifestyle and homelife so I'm looking forward to learning a new skillset and eating what I kill.
