last week i asked about skinning and eating frozen rabbit. unanimously told don`t do it.! after skinning one just to see why, i saw why. do it fresh and fast. i started on my first skin wearing latex gloves, by the time i`d finnished they had split anyway. lemon juice is great for getting rid of smells, as are the stainless steel things your mum might have. look through this site at the photo`s and films people have posted. they will help ! good luck, you`ll be fine.

because it takes me so long to type anyway, i`d be here forever. not that i don`t like this site, it took me 10 minutes to type that! i`m just rubbish at typing, so any thing that makes it easier for me...

you are not thick just because you can`t spell or punctuate well ! i rarely use capital letters for example. i`m not thick either! if someone is using this site, it`s because of a common interest. not because they need to practice their english! have you seen the spelling work schools give out? no wonder a lot of us are rubbish! try to learn from mistakes . absolutley. but above all if people know you have a problem, then we can all read around the errors. can`t we?

after a freezing weekend with the even more frozen bunnies, we decided to skin one anyway to see what was going on inside. not to be recomended. i can now fully appreciate why you don`t eat it !!!!

thanks again for the many replies, i`m in chadwell. but the offending items are in suffolk. won`t bring them home for you if you don`t mind . will be skinning them and trying to remove the sinew. meat will probably go to the carp in the moat.

hi all, can anyone help me with this please.? I have been asked to use some frozen rabbits. my questions are: if the rabbits have not been gutted , will the meat still be ok to eat? will the fur come off when i try to treat the skin? and,,, I think that taking the innards out when frozen would be trouble, am i right? thank for any help anyone can give. taggy

hi steve, I have preserved a few rabbit skins, but never tried borax. can you tell me, is the skin soft when you use it? or, does it go stiff as it does with salt? thanks.

Hi I pulled out as much bone as poss, filled and covered it in salt and sewed the end over. Not seen it for a while, that was 2 summers ago. no bad smells around the house though.

hi highseas, i have a mole in the freezer , and an unknown small furry thing, given to me in a pot already frozen. thats what has sparked my interest in taxidermy. hope someone can help us.

thanks chess, I have had some contact with mike already, i had hoped to go the course in a few weekends time , but somebody else got their deposit cheque to him before me. hence now looking for someone nearer, mikes next mamals course isn`t till next year now. thanks anyway,
