  1. Anyone who has owned one will agree that the JSR range of scopes are brilliant for the money. I payed £55 incl P&P for my 3-9X40 parallax adjustable Illuminated reticle scope and its absolutely superb. I compared it to a mates hawke which cost alot more and its quality was better. If you could afford it the 50mm objective lense would be better but i dont find a use for it for what i do. (mainly hunting and some target in the garden mostly). You'd be better off establishing a relationship with a local shop if you could. The benefits are much better and they will help you as much as they can with honest and reliable opinions. Lewis
  2. Jase I was in your situation once! A gun to me is a personal choice. It's whatever your happiest and most accurate with. The same goes for calibre. I use both .22 and .177 but find i can push my range out further with a .177. The .22 is perfectly accurate but .177 seems to be, in my opinion, slightly more simple in every way (holdover mainly). If i were you i'd get a second hand Air Arms TX200 (spring) or similar since the CO2 guns, however affordable, arn't of much use in the winter and require a bit of TLC to get them up to scratch. Gas ram - I have never used but have heard good things but generally when i was looking i found them a bit above your price range. If you think you are of the more accurate shooters out there then go for a .177 and if you want more of a challenge with each shot go for a .22. All i can say with both is know your limits and aim points! Good luck in buying. Lewis
  3. hodge911 - It hasn't had any sort of tune yet but a member of these forums has offered to tune it for me when he's next in my local area so i have taken him up on that offer! He has 3 himself i believe all tuned and very nice indeed so im looking forward to seeing the results. thanks for the latest replies, Lewis
  4. It's an interest to see the results. If the gun groups within an inch at 50 yards which realistically is doubtful, it will also have an impact velocity of approx 4-4.5 ftlbs energy, which most people i've spoken to say is enough for a headshot kill zone. I will NEVER hunt at a longer range without testing before hand, please dont think im an irresponsible idiot like some people you hear about. I know i wouldn't like someone taking pot shots at me. Cheers all!
  5. ah ok. i will try it out on targets of course for my own satisfaction (or maybe not) and let you know how it goes. Cheers guy quick replies!
  6. Well i went out with the .177 QB78 Deluxe after zero'ing this morning at 30 yards with a JSR 3-9X40AO IR scope with AA 4.52 pellets. A nice three shot one hole start which was then ruined by wind (honest). The rifle is running 10.73ftlbs (according the gun shop which i believe). Two of the Rabbits were shot at 25 yards and the other between 35 and 40 yards. I had another rabbit which had some sorts of growths allover so i desposed of that one. Every shot in the kill zone on the head. Same goes for pigeon which then fell a good 20 yards will a loud slam. A successful hunt if you ask me with a rifle that is often rated by people as useless for hunting. My thoughts of the QB78 Deluxe so far without it being tuned are of a very high standard. In the right hands its pellet on pellet at 30 yards and is more than capable of taking down a rabbit at 40 as i have proved with it. Im hoping to push my range out to 50 yards soon so any advice people have on that... brilliant!
  7. Utter rubbish! Mine groups less than 1inch out the box but the t.r.robb tuning kit seems to be highly reccommended so go for it! Lewis
  8. I don't think it fake. As said above its just a parallax free version so it'll be cheaper. Alot of scopes have a parallax free version although i agree with pecker neck that parallax is a must. Lewis

    Bipod

I'm looking for a QD attaching bipod. I want a good one but im on a budget and can't afford a new one! If anyone has one to go please PM me. Cheers Lewis EDIT: No longer needed thanks
  11. Hey guys Anyone want as almost full tin of .177 accupells? Im not sure of numbers exactly but its between 400-500 left. First to post 'I'll take them' on here gets them. PM me as well of course. :-p Cheers
  12. Im a single shot man now as well. I always wanted multi shot but then whn used it i just rushed and missed. Just like you!
  13. haha martinmoreton, im not looking at doing it at all at the moment. Just looking at idea's to put into action in the future. it's an interest in the idea and nothing more at the moment. The only thing that goes bang around here is bug's brains. Also the only thing im hellbent on is once inch groups! argh... the recrowning seems likely
  14. Hoplofile - I had pretty assumed that myself but just though holdover was an easier option!? :-S
  15. Cheers for all your replies guys, some interesting reading has prevailed. I bought the JSR 3-9X40 Parallax adjustable IR t'other day and i was wandering what use the resetting turrets have? locking is an obvious use which i may or may not take advantage of but why would there be a need to reset the turrets back to the 0 mark without changing your POI? Cheers
  16. Its amature who's hit my nail bang on! :-P I'm a full time unemployed student at the moment so a PCP was pretty much out the question as i can't afford the gun and pump and the other things to go with it. So i've gone for the closest option to PCP where i can spend a little money over time to get it as good as it can be! This PCP conversion is only an interest at the moment but like you say its dangerous. For me the QB78 is a means of learning
  17. thanks amature, i am in current contact with Biffo and he has proved to be a most reliable source of information and a great guy! I'm interested in the bulk fills as well but it is still CO2 using temperature which is as loopy as a .25 trajectory! http://www.airgunforum.net/agf/index.php?showtopic=42129 http://www.qbtune.zoomshare.com/2.shtml/54...c393d.writeback Some things i've seen about PCP QB78's. Cheers
  18. Cheers for the reply. I'v seen rifles on t'internet with an extended air chamber when the CO2 chamber usually is... very odd. Also don't worry i know the law. No rifle i have exceeds 12ftlbs and never will until i get my FAC after UNI.
  19. Hey guys. I have recently purchased a QB78 Deluxe, running 10.73ftlbs out the box, need a tune and a bit of TLC but i can imagine being very good after that. I wandered if anyone knows anything about converting them to PCP as im very interested in that idea for a bit of fun really! I've heard some things like it can/can't be done is/isn't safe and im getting a bit confused. Any input about it would be good thanks! Anyone who's done it/used one ... even better Lewis
  20. i dont think its much really but it was enough to notice a small difference on my yellow pages!
  21. I've never used a HW35 but on my cheapy springer a silencer made quite a bit of difference from about 10 yards away onwards. From my point of view i couldn't tell. Might be worth a try although i don't use them because they lower velocity by a small amount.
  22. Hey guys cheers for the recent replies. StevieP... Thanks for the reccommendation but i want a mil-dot reticle as i am going to be testing my accuracy across many different target distances. I might have a look at one of those for my plinking gun though in the future. Regarding col S10's post... i did think about going and buying second hand but i've had some not too postive experience with second hand goods so i decided to buy brand new. I'm buy no means a professional shooting so something relatively cheap and chearful will do fine for me! When i can afford to splash out on a serious professional rifle then i will definitely be buying pro-optics. and finally... i've decided to go for the JSR since it seems to have better reviews than the Nikko Sterling (that i could find) and i've had so many reccommendations of them so they must be half decent. Cheers everyone Take care all, Lewis
  23. Cheers Biffo Right i've narrowed it down to: Nikko Sterling Gold Crown Airking 3-9x42AO Or JSR 3-9x40 PX Illuminated. Both are the same price and both come with Flip up covers. The Airking also comes with mounts but i already have them so not bothered! Which would you guys go for? The JSR seems to have the better reviews. Cheers Lewis
  24. Thanks for the reply but it's a little expensive and i do want the Adjustable Objective for target shooting in the garden. I've been looking around and i do like the look/sound/price of the Nikko Stirling Gold Crown Air King AO. £54 incl P&P from BAR with mounts and covers. Anyone got any experience with these?
