Wet residue after firing....
mendevelium replied to mendevelium's topic in Bullets, Cartridges and Reloading
Thanks for putting my mind at rest! -
I was shooting with my usual clearpigeon yesterday until it got dark. When I cleaned the barrels, the cloth came out the barrel with the residue damp/wet. This has not happened before- could it be condensation in the barrels as I was out until almost dusk or is it the cartrdges? Thanks for any help.

Thank you very much. That is most helpful

Ummm... well i do have an air rifle but Iv'e never taken it down (fail ). Would breaking down a bolt action be difficult/ time consuming/ needing tools?
-
I know this sounds like a silly question but I just don't know... Can a bolt action .410 (BSA or Webley not that it maters) be broken down like a normal double barrel shotgun to fit in a smaller gun cabinet. Very appreciative of any help.

Hello - question about first air rifles!
mendevelium replied to chrismgrover's topic in Welcome to Pigeon Watch
Those two are good... but also consider the weblet xocet- it was my first proper air rifle and was fantastic for hunting! -
I was looking at 'Micks Guns' website ( http://www.micksguns.com/semi-auto%20&...%20shotguns.htm ) and saw .410 shotties going for £25! Has anyone bought guns from him; apparently he sells them at Dartford shooting club... I would like to know if this is too good to be true! Thanks

Long range pigeon load please!
mendevelium replied to mendevelium's topic in Bullets, Cartridges and Reloading
Thanks for your advice everyone- I do already appreciate what has been said about making sure quarry is in range rather than the power of the cartridge, but I do genuinely need something with a bit more poke than what I have been using recently. Also I want these cartridges to deal with bunnies and squirrels etc at a good (but sensible...) range. I have just bought some Sterling Game size 5 in 32g. Thanks utectok! -
I would like to know a good long range pigeon cartridge (preferably plastic wad) which will not blow a hole in my wallet or my shoulder! My gun is a 2 3/4 inch o/u Lanber ... Thanks for any advise.
-
I would seriously recommend that you stay with what you have found that works. Changing from right to left shoulder can result in disaster- trust me I know! Your problem seems pretty common and many such people have issues- stick with what works. It may indeed be expensive to replace if it gets lost but it is a small price to pay for good shooting. All the best, Bob.

I'm sorry to hear of this difficult situation! I think that if he is in control of his mind so to speak; then there is no reason for him not to keep his guns. As long as he safe with firearms (hopefully amnesia should not affect his safetly) then he is still a legal shooter.

Gamebore pigeon extreme
mendevelium replied to chrispti's topic in Bullets, Cartridges and Reloading
Hi welcome to the forum! I havn't tried the extremes, but I have to say I use Gamebore cartridges for all of my shooting because I know they make excellent shells for pretty good value. Will -
I know the question has been answered... but my friend applied and got a licence for 17hmr no probs. In fact t was easer for him than his shottie licence!

However we shooters feel about how our guns are described, it sounds like a pretty innocent comment by the person in question. Even so, the general public on the whole do see our 'death dispensing implements' as weapons as they do not look dissimilar to guns used in wars etc.
