    Spinger Dog Pup

No Problem Gillaroo. Starting to think im on the wrong site to be honest! This dog is well bred, f.t.c.h.clarburgh art is his grandad. The dog I used on my bitch has won 3 c.o.m in novice trials but to be honest possibly lacks the pace for trials. This dog is his fathers son, I also own his grandmother. I do not trial just pick up and beat on local shoots at least twice a week. This dog is what I said a steady beating, rough shooters dog and is laid back enough to sit at peg and in a hide. Their is only one guy on here who so far has had the decency to phone me and I was honest with him and told him I dont think this dog has the pace to trial. If he did I would probably keep him as I am looking for another beating dog with pace. Why dont I keep him for picking up? well got a cracking lab and this dogs grandmother is one of the best game finders you will come across. Yes shes a spaniel and doesnt do the long marked retrieves as good as a lab or has the same pace, let alone the size and strength but she has found birds that some very good labs have missed including my own! Plus I am keeping a lab pup out the litter I have just bred to train as a picking up dog so dont really want a spaniel that thinks hes a lab. Thanks guys No hard feelings Jeff

    Spinger Dog Pup

Thanks for your input Gillaroo. To ask to see pedigree fine. To want to no the kennel names of champs and ask if all these tests have been done starts smelling of someone who just wants to move the dog on. To call someone elses dogs in a PM means to me this guy Is not buying a dog off me! We all no if were honest our dogs shortfalls and work round and put up with them, but never do you call someone elses dog. Hence the reply. Cheers Jeff

    Spinger Dog Pup

Sorry missed the price bit, added now thanks mark bivvy. Will add though that didnt put price on because unless somebody can actuall find the time to phone me and speak to me rather than E-mail then they wont be buying a pup off me anyway. If after a phone call that person thinks the pup is to much then no hard feelings and as we all no there is something out their for everyone, the price is only the value I put on my pups and they wont leave me for any less. cheers Jeff

  19. My thoughts exactly mimic. How long before the public outcry to get the ownership of these types of dogs banned when its the owners who are in the wrong.

  21. FM I would of asked him how he new this was what had happened, i have heard of cases where a rabbit has managed to kick a ferret to death with its back legs, but never suffocation. Animals dont think like us they use the survival instinct so for 2 bucks to get there heads together and think if they block the air supply to a ferret by sealing the tunnel then they will kill it from lack of oxygen takes some believing, bearing in mind the ferret has a great big bum to sink its teeth into!!! not having ago mate just my thoughts on it. cheers Jeff
  22. Hi fm if you think about what you have said a rabbit or myself for that matter isn't going to hang about if something is trying to eat it from behind. My belief is this if you consistently work hobs or big jills for that matter you are more likely to end up digging because the rabbit cant get past the ferret in a stop end, because the ferret is to big. With a small jill it can possibly get past it to bolt bearing in mind its fighting for its life against a predator. You hear stories of small jills climbing over the back of a rabbit to bolt it personally i think this is rubbish why would a ferret think like that? What you have to do with ferreting is do what you think best and if it works for you then a good day has been had. Cheers jeff
  23. Hi frank good day out mate. I work my jills just as hammy says and they soon go in and out the nets without disturbing them, i only take my hob to use the collar on and only put him down once last season, both jills came out closely followed by a baby that was so small it ran through the net! (this was the first week of feb!) and closely followed by the hob! so no digging. the only thing i can say is give your jills time i thought i was going to have to dig last season when the jill had been down 45 mins in the mean time i had done a small a bury next to it and was just thinking of putting the collar on the hob when out poped a rather worse for wear rabbit with the jill right behind it. I think sometimes people start digging abit to soon. cheers jeff

    Ferrets

roadkill if you want a couple of ferrets pm me i have 7 kits at 5 wks old and 5 at 3 1/2 weeks old. I wont want anything for them as long as they go to a good home thats good enough for me. I keep 4 jills and 1 hob and have only had the 2 litters. I have had no problems with the 2 unmated jills, the advice given by tiercel and frank pretty much sums up how i keep my ferrets this time of year. mine are feed on raw meat but through out the summer it is skinned and i only give them enough food for 1 feed and i check the sleeping boxs daily for left overs. If you no what you have given them it is easy to find anything that is uneaten and remove it. My ferret hutches are built into a shed and in the summer i put netting on the door opening to stop flies getting in and hang those stick fly catching things up as well. This and clean out daily (twice aday in the case of the jills with young) works for me. Hope this helps. cheers Jeff
