  1. in all the real $WD areas over here in AU 8/10 are landcruisers "The REST" make up the other 2/10 Landrover and range rovers- ha the most they ever see offroad over here is if the race course car park gets a bit muddy or they have to drive through road works an unmade road over here and any of the rover brands turn up there tails and fall over P
  2. Yep a semi auto .22 would have been a nightmare to take with him Class C as a minimum- and that is hard enough to get for a local commoner- with him being an import commoner - next to impossible unless he was going there to do government work and then it's just a matter of getting the right people to sign off on it. To help you view the board easier- try this Do you use Firefox as you browser?? if ys hold down ctrl button and press the plus and it will increase the size of all the writing on the page + to increase - to decrease- should make it easier for you to read without having to revert to shouting. IE will have a similar function to do with display or font size but I dont use IE so I dont know how to advise you how to make it larger. I knew you weren't having a go about the people in the transaction I realised you were warning about the likely cost blow out that can happen with something like this. £695 thats highway robbery. thats almost $1500 local- thats the price we pay for the S/S varmint T3 not the plain jane blued/wood. We aren't getting them cheap- you guys are being ripped off - the price listed in the US converted into AUD means we should be buying them for about $750-800 local for blue/wood I'm a bit of a Tikka nut aside from my Sako P94S in .22lr all my other centerfires are either Tikka 595 or 695's (model number before T3) and I have standing orders at a few gunshops for any 695's that come through their doors as trade ins. Just realised that all my firearms are Euro all my tikkas- several Rapid MK11 .25 FAC - 48FPE Hw-90 .22 FAC- 25 FPE and my Sako 22 later p
  3. You mean the pigeon? thats a pigeon?? we dont get them that color over here- never seen chest plumage that color B4 Later p
  4. Please know something about a subject before yelling at people- capitals on forums is yelling. AU gun laws are not as strict as your in a lot of ways- we are able to own pistol for instance. We have different restrictions on different type of firearms - mostly semi autos of all types and pump action shotguns but if you can show genuine need you can have any type firearm you like ( except full auto) Class A - rimfire (not being a semi auto), single and 2 shot capacity 12# paintball markers and air rifles Class B Centerfire- (not being a semi auto), cross bows, black powder canons and others Class C rimfire semi auto capacity not more than 10, pump 12# capacity not more than 6 and others as determined by the commissioner Class D semi auto centerfire and other cap of rimfire semi auto and all other cap of pump and semi auto 12# Class H- handguns including air guns Commoners can get Class A, you don't need a genuine reason to apply for but all others you do and have to demonstrate your genuine need. Class B is easy if you are a hunting or competition club member or farmer etc etc The criteria you have to comply with to get Class C is very hard and strict guidelines need to be applied and it's nearly impossible for Class D- unless you have government contracts for pest control or similar. There is no 12FPE an under rule for air arms in AU- all firearms need to be liscensed. All moderators and silencers are banned in AU- there is jail terms for owning one- and if a muzzle weight looks like a silencer it will be deemed a silencer and banned- the looks like a duck rule. It would have been quite easy for your cousin to bring any of his class A rifles with him- just make application with his immigration application. with some discussion with customs and the releavent state where he was going to be living- all his class B would have been allowed also. anything in the Class C, D, or H- he would have been unlikely to take as there are time limits and other criteria that a newly immigrated person couldn't comply with. Anything with a moderator on it would have to have the Mod removed or it wouldn't have been allowed. but other than that it's just a bit more paperwork and a bit of time Guns are not cheaper over here- we get most of ours out of the US market and frankly their quality isn't anywhere near UK or Euro for longarms. The Euro is at 65 odd Cents per AUD$ and the pound is somewhere between 35 and 40 pence per AUD$-- it just makes these quality arms so much more expensive than US made longarms- the AUD$ and the USD$ are almost at parity now. A new Theoben FAC rapid is worth almost $2500 AUD$ fully setup and ready to go- sans air tank for fills-- its the cheapest they have been for years as the pound to AUD$ exchange rates is the best it's been in many many many years ATM. I have looked into the private importation of the FAC rapid and as a commoner it will be a nightmare for me to do it. hope this clears up a few things for you That OVP idea would work but I dong have anyone in the UK to do that for me ATM. Thanks later p
  5. whats the silver purple thing above the AG and in the middle of the rabbits?? thanks later p

Beeman and JSB are your friends-- doo a web search and you shall see how many .20 cal options there are- heaps and heaps later p
  7. was shooting from inside the cab and didn't realize how much wind was blowing across the paddocks-- it was a good 8-12MPH cross wind- gusting to 20 MPH. With a 30 grain Kodiak doing 840 FPS with a full fill- how much would the wind have affected the pellet out to say 50 meters?? Putting aside the fact I'm a shiot shot- how much would the wind have effected the field shots?? Thanks later P
  8. here are some fox whistle ideas http://www.tenterfieldfoxwhistle.net/ there is links to sounds as well on here one of my mates calling one in a write up of the whistle used http://ausvarmint.com/av/index.php?option=...2&Itemid=28 how to make fox whistle from a jam tin lid http://s13.photobucket.com/albums/a284/woo...01Image0002.flv how to use it http://s13.photobucket.com/albums/a284/woo...00Image0061.flv more info http://www.tomvarneyfoxshooting.com/Video%20Clips.htm more With me it was trial and error at first which didn't produce results. But then I read that they should be around 3-4mm from the edge. I tried to drill them when the metal was flat (ie before I bent it). I marked the centre line and then the holes, drilled etc. Went to bend it and of course it did not bend where I wanted it to, so don't do it that way. Next attempt was to bend it into that shape but aim to have both sides parallel, that way when you drill your first smaller hole the bit goes through both sides at the same distance from the edge. Flip it over and drill out that hole with the bigger drill bit, that way you get rid of the exterior burrs too. Might be an idea to use a nail or nail punch to dent the metal where you intend to drill to stop the drill bit from wandering. Oh and use a vice!! hope this helps later p
  9. Remington core-lokt 120's work very well in a 6.5x55- they seemed to have stopped making them so you might want to try the Hornady 100 or 129 SP hunting projectile you are much closer to the home of the 6.5x55 that me here in Australia surely the skandinavians have a small deer load as a factory round LAter p
  10. spray white golf balls with anti-stick cooking spray canola oil or similar put sprayed golf balls out in a field hide crows try and pick up sprayed golf balls but cannot- their crys of frustration normally attracts a few others you get a chance to bag more than a couple of crows at one sitting- especially with you guys able to have sound moderator Later p

  12. You cannot use a standard brand air comp it must be one designed to give scuba quality air with a water/condensation scrubber in it's construction- water and PCP airgun working parts is a bad thing- a really bad thing. I use a 300 Bar CF 6L tank from a fire department BA rig. Weights about what a 3L steel tank does and gives a heap of fills Tank fills from the dive shop are cheap compared to getting a pump it would prolly be a good idea to get a spare cyclinder for your PCP so once the first is run down you fit the second and start hunting back towards your car where you scuba tank will be. I get 36 shots max power out of my Rapid MK11 in .25 cal before I need to think about changing cycl's. I can get 50 shots of hunting pressure- but mines FAC rated - set at 48 FPE for these number of shots. I get even more shots from my aftermarket 500cc 250BAR tank over the factory 400cc 200 BAR tank-- 50 shots is a lot of rabbits to carry round- can you carry 20 piar of rabbits and a rifle and stuff?? witha 12 FPe rating on a Rapid mk11 you are looking at a 150-200 shot capacity before a fill is needed Later p
  13. My Rapid MK11 in .25 has been set to 48 FPE with Kodiaks but my AG-smith. I think you call that an FAC rated gun - no such rating system here in Australia mine goes through 19mm pine boards no problems later p

    What Scope

I use a Wolf Eyes 9A tactical torch on my Rapid MK11 in .25 cal FAC like a large surefire you see mounted on tatical cop guns- that are all the rage in modern cop shows. I get several hours of 200+ lumens of focussed beam and it take 2 min to change the batteries and i can carry 3 sets of baterries in the same space as a packet of smokes later p
