I'm sorry but you, and a lot of the other older guys (60+) who are either; winding people up (for a laugh, or for political reasons), dumb*** stupid or can't use the search engines to find alternative views should just stop posting. 100 million and 80-90 M heading here, you're having a giraffe, dumb*** stupid or can't search the Internet. One thing to remember is that it isn't your country, its ours.

What about the present generation? I fought for this country and I'm not alone on this forum. How dare you put words in others mouths!

@Rim FireHow warm are these? I've never owned any, but would like something a little warmer for (non-wading) fishing than my Aigles. Worth a punt?
Better off with proper muck boots, not much between them in warmth but I find the cheaper boot soles are slippery on wet rocks and less durable.

Ah, the good old Google prediction?
No, science, google is just a search engine. If you have alternative facts, crack on and produce them and we can have a discussion.

How so Henry? The trends in developing nations seems to be that large numbers of offspring counterbalance the lack of state care?
Because they are increasing doesn't mean that the rest of the world is. Check out the links.

Interesting, our village has 5 pubs (one is a cricket club) in a 20 minute walk radius from my home. There was one more but it closed pre covid and became housing, many moons ago it was the busiest as it was at the bottom of the hill and closest to the shipyard. With the end of the shipyard you had to walk all the way down the hill to it so trade slowed andtherewerefew homes nearby. The pub halfway up the hill is decidedly odd, no housing around it, all bombed or pulled down, and is imo the best for miles, only food is crisps and nuts or bring your own on Sundays, they have a quiz, darts, pool, and buskers evening dotted through the week and a licencee who keeps his beers in top condition. Pub at the top of the hill nearest the village is up to rent again as it was an old man's boozer and very insular and only got good numbers when it was sunny. The cricket club is nice but only open Thursday to Sunday and match nights. The other are "gastro" so only go for food infrequently.
In the past the first three would have been bouncing as the workers went home via each one andeveryonewouldknow each other. Today they are isolated as people have their favourite ones, bar some who are alcoholic and will totter from one to the other, and people come from further afield as well as walkers doing the keelman's way along the Tyne Valley.
The gastros will continue but never be a social hub, the others hopefully will.

...perhaps a bit of inward reflection may be called for on your part??
Yes, compare, contrast, critique rather than an echo chamber of those that read and just nod along without actually critically thinking.
Is the climate changing; yes, but we have to ask why. A polarised view is it's a) It's just a natural process or b) it's caused by humans. Both a load of 💩, as ever for every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong.
The world is getting warmer, and we are just as responsible as it is naturally occurring, so we also need to do something to negate our actions.

... the first post was done a bit light hearted but also to highlight the opposing sides of the argument hoping to begin the discussion on the matter...
I disagree, it was to belittle any opposition and a poor way to start a discussion as well as not allowing for anything other than polar extremes.

,......So, are we undergoing Climate Change that will be the end of the world if we don't go back to living in caves and cowering at night in them and never straying more than a short distance away from them (15 minute city style et al - something like The Croods)
[SNIPPED]
- or are we living through a period of natural warming in a cycle that has been scientifically proven has been happening since the planet developed a climate and no matter what we do it will have no measurable effect on the cycle
So, first part a straw man argument, then your own thoughts and just two options. 🤔
I don't think climatologists (?) aas polarised, yes the climate changes, but are we having a big effect on natural cycles of temperature, without a doubt we are. If you don't do anything about how we live and it is just a minor warming up then all is good for our grandchildren, if not and we are really ramping it up then we should be apologising now because they take on our debt. Somewhere in the middle and it still isn't good.

This may help clear that up - not good reading
https://climatediscussionnexus.com/videos/the-97-consensus-slogan/
Quotes AMS surveying; "...its 7,000 members. They got about 1,800 responses. Of those, only 52% said they think global warming over the 20th century has happened and is mostly manmade. The remaining 48% either think it happened but is mostly natural, or it didn’t happen, or they don’t know." yet they can still say on their front page; "Humans are causing climate to change and it poses numerous serious risks. The more carbon we emit, the higher the carbon dioxide concentrations in the atmosphere will be and the larger the changes in climate we'll face." 🤔

Well according to the police she went in the river near the bench but the wild swimmers say you can stand up there as the water is only a couple of feet deep, I know you can drown in a couple of inches of water but there is something just not right.
It really doesn't matter where she went in, all of us putting forward theories is all about setting it right in our minds. The main thing is how she met her death, if by the hands of another or by her own then the scientists are the ones to ascertain this. The police cannot say that she walked undetected to the weir and went in there as there is no evidence of that, the only things they have is a phone, the dog and harness near the bench so have to assume that was point of entry.

I told you that I would get back to you, been a while but hey here I am.
I suppose that I am responsible for 8 killed and 8 badly injured on the Alfarez Sobral (sp?). And unknown numbers killed and injured by 326 rounds of 4.5" HE shells. Happy with that?
You disgraceful little troll.
