Nice shooting.

Its got to be gas getting behind the choke to blast the choke to pieces like that . If there had been an obstruction in the barrel it would have burst or made one hell of a bulge .
Harnser .
Harnser, the shop assistant said exactly the same as you when we dropped the gun in this morning. It will have to be sent away to Edgar Bros for their inspection.
Here is a couple more pics showing the damage to choke and bulge in barrel.

Also has anyone had any experience with the Gateshead FEO's and how long it takes them to get the applications sorted out?
Cheers
Lewis
Gateshead would come under Northumbria and they are busy at the moment. From posting my application it was 6 weeks to FEO visit and it's 3 1/2 weeks since visit and I'm still waiting! :look: As it happens I've been working at Northumbria Police HQ this week and just made a little inquiry with the firearms dept and my application should be processed next week.

70 mile round trip for me which I can only get to once a fortnight but it's got to be done if I want to shoot.
You guy's with the permissions on your doorstep are so lucky so take care of them.
My house is only 100yds from a farm and I have known the farmer all my life but he won't allow any shooting because it upsets all the horse people that use his fields. Its so frustrating as my back garden backs onto one of his fields and the trees on the edge of that field are usually full of pigeons.

IIRC the last case was someone using a mobil choke in their Hatsan. Can anyone else back me up or am I imagining things again?
ZB
Yes, I believe you are correct on this but the chokes in this Escort are the ones supplied with the gun.

Been using it on pigeon, No.6's 32g - no problem (Yet!!!!)
This gun in question has only shot
Eley HB pigeon 6 1/2 32g fibre
Eley Realtree® pigeon 6 1/2 30g fibre

There's been a thread on the BBS about an almost identical incident (which looked like gas had got between the choke tube and the barrel wall).
I'd like to get in with a 'pay peanuts, get monkeys' analogy before Mungler reads this. I'd rather use a Lanber than an Escort.
Thanks Baldrick, I'll have a look for that (or do you have a link, please).
-
Out with my friend yesterday and the Escort he uses (the one I'm I was going to buy when my SGC comes through!) decided to try and blow the end of the barrel off resulting in deformed barrel, choke and choke threads destroyed. No blockages, choke was tight and only around 150 carts through it, so at a loss as to why this happened. (It is going back to gunshop for return to Edgar Bros for their examination).
(Mobile phone pics, sorry for quality.)

Bravest of the brave, most generous of the generous, never had a country more faithful friends than you.

Just watched this female on NEWS AT 10 the one with the battern mark on her leg
what a piece of class text book acting "i see a police man now and i have to cross the road because i,m scared" is she after compensation or what ?
what about all the troops will they get comp for P,D,S,D like she is no doubt i reckon the paranoid thoughts she,s having are all the drugs she,s taken over the years .And looking at her its to much WEED could hardly string her words together(max cliffords going to love her JUST SIGN HER LOVE) .
That was also my first thought as I watched it but she'll probably make a fortune from it with all the media exposure.

Thanks for your comments
, I will go for both but now the problem will be which ones to buy......... there's loads to choose from

I am waiting for my SGC to drop through the door in the next couple of weeks and am trying to get some kit ready.
So I was wondering if it's best to have a Cleaning kit or Boresnake or Both?
What do you guy's recommend?
-
the only limit as far as i'm aware is the size of your cabinet. if the FLO sees a 4 gun cabinet and you have 15 guns on your SGC he will become a little suspiciouse. i have 4 but i know of some guys who have about 20!!!!
As Taff said, as long as you have room in your cabinet for them then there is no limit on the amount of shotguns you own.
-
Enjoy and excellent result on your permission.
-
Every so often I take my 13 year old lad with me to shoot at the farm I have permission on, and he'll use one of my shotguns (the farmer knows this)... after reading this topic, I should stop letting him shoot as I didn't realise it was breaking the law! :(
I think it would be better for you to ring your FEO as it seems every force has different views on this matter, better safe than sorry.

Utmost respect to your lad and all the other men and women out there doing a very difficult job.
