  1. Thanks guys for all your opinions! I'll have a think then make my choice! Cheers
  2. You should be able to get the SGC form off your police forces website. As for clay grounds just pop down to your local gunshop and they'll point you in th right direction - worked for me!!
  3. Just wondering what everyone else uses? I'm thinking about buying either the napier pro 9 (about £20-£25) or the little orange sonic II reuseable ear plugs (£10-£12). Both claim that you can still hear quieter sounds like talking etc. and this is what i'm after. Does anyone have any opinions???
  4. I've got a sxs, s/a and p/a and I would definately say not to go for the pump. If you're going to shoot game then definately go for a sxs or o/u but if not it's just up to your preference. I think an o/u would make the best all round beginners gun. Good luck!
  5. Well done to BASC and sainsburys, it's important to re-introduce game and get it back in peoples head as a good thing to eat!
  6. I too judge a gun shop by the way I am treated, when I was first looking to buy a gun a did a fair bit of research and went into numerous gun shops and found such a range of responses - the worst of which was Hardy's in Sheffield (I would not normally give the name but I was so incensed by the service I will!) Upon entering the shop I was greeted with "what do you want", when I asked to look at the guns for sale the response was "you can look but don't touch them 'coz them i've got to clean them" and when I looked at the guns there was one I had looked at elsewhere - it was second hand and it was actually more expensive than I had seen it new! That was the last straw for me and I was straight out the door!!!!
  7. Thats a good point jimbo, and relevant as more and more people seem to be complaining about the price of basc. I have to say I think the basc magasine has been much improved in the last year or two.
  8. Have to say I couldn't be more pleased with mine has cycled everything i've put through it - seems to be luck of the draw which gun you get!
  9. Good work on the 76! How does decoying crows/rooks differ from pigeons - any tips? I gave it a go once but only got a couple!
  10. I am a keen supporter of the basc and support their decision to construct a new media centre. In todays world were everything seems to be controlled/guided by the media I see it as vitally important that the basc keeps up to date where media is concerned as it is ultimately favourable public opinion which will maintain the sport that we all love so much alive in the long term future. It seems every other day the rspb or ill informed presenter/journalist is on tv/in the paper projecting a negative image for shooting sports and indeed country sports as a whole, it is this that the basc needs to counter with appropriate media that demonstrates the other side of the story. However I do agree with some of the previous posts that a begging letter for £40 was a poor and unimaginative fundraising technique, particularly at this time of 'credit crunch'.
  11. Hey ferretman, where abouts near Sheffield are you? - I live in Sheffield
  12. I too would suggest that you try easyhit or something similar before you go changing your guns. Another option would be to wear shooting glasses and place a carefully position clear sticker in the centre of the left lens, this should sufficiently reduce the quality of vision in the left eye for your brain to switch to the right eye, but the fact that you still have both eyes open means you get a 3D picture of the target which will allow you to tackle it better. Good luck any way!
  13. I would agree with sirus man, bettinsolli looks to me a good option I don't own one but have had a good look at some and they look good to me. Also you'll probably get a decent warranty etc. when buying one new. Over and under is probably the way to go if you want an all rounder with a sporter/game gun covering most things. Hot barrels!
  14. Hi mate, nice photo. What have you been getting on the humber so far this season? I've had a couple of canada's but not much else, havn't been able to get there much so far.
  15. Hi all, just thought I would post a hello on here before I do anything else. My name is Alex and I'm at uni in Sheffield so do some shooting around there but also shoot in North Yorkshire quite a lot and get to the Humber for wildfowling as much as I can. Anyway thats me pretty much summed up!
