  1. Had a chance to use Armasight NV (binoculars and a spotter) when pig hunting at night. I dont have a lot of experience with NV (cant use NV sights here) but found these very useful at night this time of year, when sows are off menu and only yearlings and male pigs can be shot. I could sex the pigs at closer ranges and the NV was good for spotting them.
The first vid was a peri-urban area so there was enough lights coming from a nearby town and roads to see good enough in the riflescope. Had to leave the NV and camera on the tripod and move away to get a safe shot...
In the second vid, the NV was good in the wood to figure out "what was what" and take the shot when there was enough light.
    Hope you enjoy these. tiphat.gif

  2. One of my outings filmed in late May. Plenty of deer about, but mainly young and nothing worth pulling trigger. I saw only one interesting "murder buck", couple of weeks before, but never managed to get the shot. I went to check the same area again and this time had more luck.

  3. This is a doe kid I got in January on the rape field (season here ends early, so it was the last one for me). It was pretty windy, but I got out anyway. I thought I could still find some deer in the sheltered corner of the field. I wanted to get to the high seat, but deer were coming out already so I stayed at the edge of the field and some bushes behind me. The deer were coming nicely my way and all I had to do was to wait a bit and pull the trigger.
I had rifle on sticks, so pushed the trigger forward setting it... waited for the kid to pause broadside and pulled the trigger... and nothing. Safety was still on... doh.gif Just another one of my cock ups icon_rolleyes.gif
They heard the click and were about to run, but due to wind stayed put for a little longer and I eventually managed to get the safety off and got the one I wanted...

  4. I can't really remember when was the last time I celebrated New Year's Eve, I am usually in bed well before midnight... and out stalking on the 1st!
It was the same this year. Out hunting 1st January 2015 morning. The weather was bad, only little bit of snow left, windy and wet. I went through the forest checking more sheltered placed, and found a small group of red deer feeding on the edge of the mature trees and a clear fell.
