na, wet bouldering was from bloody bridge at newcastle, the rafting was in castlewellan forest park sorry, didnt get any pics...

well im back in one piece (i think), the wet bouldering this morning wasnt too bad, was warm enough cos we kept moving all the time (or maybe it was the half bottle of powers...), but the rafting this afternoon wrecked me - building the raft wasnt too bad (except for the fact we were wearing wetsuits that were already soaked), but the paddling was a *****, shoulders are killing me now. then in the middle of the lake the instructor shouted "right, swap rafts without anyone getting in the water". simple enough to do, but unfortunately for the other guys id tied most of our barrels on using quick release knots... must admit i was giggling like a school girl as we paddled off on their raft, then we stopped about 20 yards off just in time to see the panic as the barrels began to break free from the other raft and pitch everyone into the water  ps yes, the ladies were wearing bikini's, and yes, it was communal showers....

should i start squeaking now?! youre right davie, im thinking a half bottle of powers slipped inside the wetsuit, preceeded by liberal amounts of brandy on the way up

well there i was, sitting in my freshly painted house (done today) admiring my handiwork and minding my own business when i got a knock at the front door, it was my mate and his wee sister. come on in i says, no point standing there in the cold. so they came in, and after the usual 10 mins of chatting i was asked a favour... apparantly theyre going out tomorrow morning for her boyfriends birthday, but a few people have let them down, could i go as well to make up the numbers? me and her boyfriend usually dont get on (something to do with a discussion i had with him regarding the consequences of ever messing her about...) so i wasnt that fussed, but how can you turn down a 17 yo blonde begging you.... well, i cant, so i said i'd go only as an after thought, while watching her run around all excited chatting to her friends on the phone, i thought to ask "what exactly are we doing?" - paintballing? kart racing? bowling? what? oh no. nothing so sensible. its the end of November, and we are going.... RAFTING! oh yes, and its the build your own raft version - last time i did that it fell apart right in the middle of the lake, though at least it was summer. and if that isnt enough, were also going water bouldering! now, im sure theres a lesson to be learnt here somewhere, something to do with blondes and never agreeing to anything without full details first. HELP!!

snipe ill be honest, i think youre over complicating this a bit too much for yourself. what i always believe is rifle shooting is a science, shotgun shooting is an art. dont worry about velocity's and string lengths and barrel lengths, best way to find this all out is to get a bit of practice in - to check patterns use a pattern plate, etc; string length and all that doesnt matter either; have a few shots at the clays, as long as youre hitting them itll all fall into place, as for barrel length i think (not 100% sure) that a longer barrel will give you a slightly tighter shot pattern.
-
i could be totally wrong here, but i think alot of it depends on the gun and the cartridge used. best idea would be to try out a few patterns, old rolls of wallpaper are good to see the differences (obviousley wall paper thats not hanging on a wall at the time...). i know (ahem) a person who has, in the past, shot concrete walls at farm yards to test the pattern, but farmers dont appreciate it that much
