  3. Got a chap near me, sells cartridges from a 40ft container on his farm. Bought some Rio 32grm 5's at £211 per thousand. Unfortunately he doesn't sell game bore which is a pain as I live the clear pigeon!!
  4. Again these look like nature reserves etc. she's trying to get local pictures of truly wild deer not in some park with loads of people and kids about. I think we will try the footpath approach
  5. Been to the deer parks but as said in the post... Want pictures of wild deer
  6. Hi all, not sure if this is the right place to put this so please move if needed. I bought me girlfriend a dslr camera for Xmas as she is getting quite keen on photography. We have been to the local deer park aswell as nature reserves but she wants to try and get some pics of wild deer etc. My shooting land only holds one or two, at best and they are normally in the thicket!! I just wondered wether anyone on here that's local has any land with a fair few deer or hares that he could get some pictures of?? I can offer beer and maybe a couple days walk about on my permission with shotguns. I live in Stoneleigh, Warwickshire so anywhere near here would be great. Thanks for looking
  7. Ahhh... Looks a good book. Thanks for the reply
  8. Hi all, I'm after a book or books on the history of game shooting. I've read articles in magazine about the Victorians and their pheasant shooting and it intrigues me. Has anyone got anything that covers this of know of any books about it?? Thanks for looking
  9. Hi all, my better half has really taken an interest in photography in the last year or so. I bought her a top end compact camera last year but it has it's limits. I'm looking to get her a dslr this Christmas and looking to spend around £250. I understand you get what you pay for, but that's my budget and I'm fairly confident I can get a decent starter camer kit for that money I just wondered what your opinions are on different models and which I would be best to go for. Ideally it would include a lense at that price. Thanks for looking
  10. Hi all, looking for a ferret finder and collar, someone helped themselves to mine along with a bag of nets.... And as I'm going ferreting soon I could do with a finder, luckily got plenty of nets though!! I'm not looking to spend loads.... So not bothered in condition aslong as it is in full working order. Mk1 2 or 3. Thanks for looking
  11. Not sure if anyone could help but.... After flicking through The Field magazine I saw an article on the basset hounds, hunting rabbits. I'm keen to follow one of these hunts as it looks awesome. I'm guessing with the anti hunt folk it's hard to find any info etc on when they go or who to contact. Does anyone have any info on where, when or who??? Thanks in advance
  12. I feed mine a mix of biscuit and meat.... Normally minced meet as I find that they don't store this away as much. Also they seem to love an egg or 2!! Quite amusing watching them try to get into it!! As for the bread, milk and sugar I've never fed it to them.... I read somewhere that they are lactose intolerrant but may be wrong??
  13. Emptied my pm box now chaps.... Yeh I've fished it here at stoneleigh, managed a few small Chub so far... Seen some decent ones about though!!
  14. Hi mate, yes there will be more opportunities and your more than welcome. I see your into fishing aswell.... So if the rabbits ain't bolting... We will get the rods out!! Pm me your number mate
  15. That's handy as I live on the show ground!!! You are more than welcome to join me. As I said it won't be for a few weeks but if you pm me your number I'll give you a ring over the next few days and sort out some days/ early mornings!!!

  17. Stoneleigh.... In Warwickshire... Land is in Warwickshire too.
  18. Hi all, thought I would offer the chance for a newbie to join me ferreting this season..... I won't be starting for a few weeks, as I'm still seeing young on my permission and don't want to hammer next years sport. It will be mainly done on weekends but maybe the odd week day depending on work. The rabbits will be netted with purse nets or shot once bolted. As said this is an opportunity for a newbie. It would be helpfull if you have your own transport and live locally. Let me know if interested P.s this is totally free.... Apart from a flask of tea!!

    Carp tackle

Hi, I'm after some tackle for this carp season. In need of: Spod rod and reel 2x decent bait runners I've got money waiting for the right stuff. Also a bolt action BSA .410 and a Webley spectre 22 air rifle that could be used in a deal. Thanks for looking

    Pike

Thanks for all the replies, the spot I'm fishing is a slow flowing weir pool, it's kind of separate to the main river. It flows through it but the outlet is loads smaller than the inlet, hence it being slow. When it gets back to the river it speeds up slot more I nearly always fish for pike with a float.... Got more options I feel as I can suspend it etc. I've tried sea baits but never had any success, swapped over to lives or coarse deads and had much more luck. I've had a few aborted takes but feel these may have been zander as there's a fair few in there and just didn't feel like a pike run. The pike do spawn in this mill pool on a gravel bar that shallows the water up to about 2ft.... Normally you can get a few runs from it but nothing much compared to last season, although I have seen a few pike topping there when last fishing so maybe spawning??? Again thanks for the advice... May have a go at the weekend

    Pike

Been fishing for them for a couple of months on the warwickshire avon....thinking this cold snap would bring on the bigger girls to feed. As of yet i havent had a big pike. 2 of my mates i took had the same fish (13lb 5oz) but apart from that no bigger ones. Ive tried live and dead baits but not even getting much interest from the jacks. Anyone else having this happen or is it just the stretch im on?! I know the water holds some decent doubles and alot of smaller ones but just cant seem to get much in the way of takes!! Looking to maybe do a different water around here but not sure where....anyone know of a decent venue? Thanks
