darren Hi, i'm based on the Notts/Derby border,shooting mainly in South Derbyshire. The large winter flocks of pigeon,that usualy accumulate in this area have not occured, even the anticipated spring drillngs are failing to produce the expected numbers.

Cranfield Feral pigeons carry significantly more diseases that are harmful to humans than Rats. Is that objectionable enough ?

The general idea, IMO of a pigeon call, is to reply to a calling/cooing bird in the vicinity, in the hope that it will flight to the caller. As to the effectivness of a call, on many occasions when birds are not flighting but unseen can be heard, after using a call, a flighting bird has appeared in a previously empty sky. Might just be a coincidence, who knows?.
