  1. I bought a Miroku MK60 Grade 5 second hand, was £1700 and been hardly used, new they are nearer the £2300 mark now, the woodwork is lovely, 30" barrels with fixed 1/4 & 3/4, lovely light gun.
  2. Rape cut here, had 45 off the first field in a few hours while the combine was still working the field.
  3. Just ordered one last week, it is currently with HM Customs, it cost $160 to buy and ship + whatever customs will charge.
  4. Not used the LEI but there is an article in Shooting UK I seem to recall, they tested a load of 17HMR mods, do a quick Google. My guess is that you wont notice a difference, if you want to pay extra for a small mod then I guess it is worth it. I use a DM80 dedicated 17HMR, quite chunky but very light and easy to strip and clean.
  5. Swarovski 4-12 x 50AV, 1" tube, 4A ret. Very tidy condition, two very minor cosmetic marks where the previous owner might have used Warne mounts or somthing similar, tried to show in the photo's. £595 RMSD or Face to Face "SOLD to Mungler" Advertised elesewhere.
  6. I heard that it was bird food, just wondered at what time it is harvested etc..looking at pictures of the crop I guess there is alot of spillage when cut. Anyway, good to hear, they have four fields planted so with anyluck it will attract some good numbers.
  7. The rape fields were ploughed back in a few weeks back, millet has been planted to replace it, never shot over millet, anybody any experience of this?
  8. Yes, pretty much, planning to take her to the small syndicate I shoot on toward the end of this month/early Jan for a morning or afternoon. I have taken her a couple of times for an hour or two rough shooting where I know there less game, just me and the dog. She flushed birds, I shot one, she ran in (i let her) and nosed it then off hunting again, I thought the flush - bang - drop would finish with a retrieve, not that time, also shot a pigeon same day, she done the same thing.
  9. It's a mixture to be honest, I'll walk her to heel, cast her forward into some rough to work, bring her back on the whistle move forward same again, or stop her and walk to her and cast her off again, always keeping her as close to me as possible. I don't just get to the walk let her off and away she goes with ME following HER if thats what you mean.
  10. Cheers, just retrieving in the garden/confined space? or take her out and try retrieves only?
  11. She will pick cold game in the garden, and doesn't muck about as much, Pheasant, Partridge, Pigeon and Rabbit, when in the field if i take cold game with me she will run to it then ignore it rather then picking it. It's really strange as she is like a different dog in the garden, I have a small narrow area to the side of the house where she cant get past me which I oftem use for one or two retreives, i am doing this maybe once every coupe days as I am conscious she might be getting bored of it. When we are out the hunting is more interesting to her then the retreive.
  12. Got an 18 month springer, had her from 10 weeks old. She responds well to the whistle, will stop, recall and turn when out with her. She is mad for hunting when out and won't even acknowledge a dummy (rabbit fur or pheasant wings attached) too preoccupied. She will walk to heel when out and doesn't venture far away apart from one or two moments which is when I will get after her and walk her to heel for a while to calm her down again. At home in the garden she will go nuts for the dummy, like a different dog, totally focused on it, she will retreive it to me but has started to muck about with it (playing, flipping it up and catching again etc..), running past and around me before coming in or as a last resort me getting after her. Not tried a cord but will do. I am at a bit of a loss how to get the same focus when in the field, any ideas would be appreciated.

  18. Went into my local Scats store for dog food the other day and stumbled across there plastic electric fence posts, they come in two heights (1m and 1.5m) have a foot plate and 6" metal spike, a pack of 5 is £10!! They are light and make perfect hide poles. Tested them last weekend, better then my metal telescopic ones as you can fix the hide not just at the top but on the fixing used for the wires all the way down to the bottom. Done a quick search on google if you dont have a SCATS nearby "plastic electric fence posts"
