  1. Sorry to hi-jack the topic but what is classed as a large field in acreage? Thanks, George
  2. Jesus Christ that is absolutely ******* mad beyond all belief to what extent did he shoot you? not to bad i hope, i know someone who took a shot to the face on a grouse moor and lost his vision in one eye he even knew the man who did it although said person never confessed to being the culprut and how the hell did he shoot his own dog?!?!?! George
  3. For all i do not like this fact of snobbery shown in the original post, i also feel that an expensive gun such as a holland is a piece of art, when you look at the craftsmanship that has gone into it and that they look as good as they do after 80 years it is amazing. I know someone who had a pair of 1920's Purdey until the got stolen and has replaced them with a pair of Hollands. They are the most beautiful guns i have ever seen and so feel they should be appreciate as art and the assumption it is for a snob or bad shot should not be made. However i do feel someone like in that first post who mocks a person's gun is simply a **** nothing else. George
  4. Okay well i was at the Selby game fair about a month ago and they had magnet for like £50 with a battery yet on UK shooting warehouse they £60 with out the battery up to nearly £200. I am going to be going to the Yorkshire game fair in a couple of weeks and was wondering if there is a cheap magnet there should i get it? or is it a case as with so many thing, when you get what you pay for? George
  5. Quite but has got a mild slope over most of it. I will put it this way, some of the fields are nocking on 1km long (maybe 800-900m) and you can pretty much see from one end to the other. Im in the vale of York, all the land is flat George
  6. Is this for rimmies and centers? George
  7. Hi i am new to the world of rifles and have taken an introductory course in deer stalking and they mentioned the need for a good backstop. I am just about to send my FAC off and was wondering what is considered a safe backstop. The farm I live on is very falt and has little in the way of contours to work as a back stop. So to the question, is it only a solid lump of earth like hill/mound that is a safe backstop or is there anything else that would count as one? sorry for the noobie question but i fell i should know before i send my FAC off. George
  8. Thought it may have been my dad used to shoot the same gun and it is a loverly gun George

  14. Okay well here it is, i am thinking of starting clay shooting was hoping to join a club. I live in York and the nearest ground i know of is the North of England clay ground. But as i am new, not sure if i could join the club (not even sure if there is a team i am an absolute novice) i do not have an idea what happens. Any one got any advise for me? if so it would be gratefully received, even if it is just explaining how it works. George

  20. As mad is this may seem yes elephants are a best in many areas of africa and the decimate the trees where ever they go and as i understand Botswana is a very good example of this. I have seen It is several safari parks in south africa and the Mara in Kenya, they tare down trees to such an extent and as they are protected so heavily their numbers are spiking very fast so hunting them should be done. However i would not dare to even shoot a roe with a bow never mind an elephant and i feel that is wrong. George
  21. I love the .410 its great, no recoil at all and then it is so much more quite than the 12 bore so its good for shooting from an upstairs window (in a rural area) i would whole heartily recommend it to you. Hope this helps. George
