hello oldypigeonpopper i was thinking the same maybe i should take it to a local rifle club and try filling it with a bottle first, although i don't understand why every time i pump the lever the air come out of the barrel muzzle and don't stay in the reservoir ?
thanks chris i will try the dive bottle at a local rifle club why do you think the air was coming out of the barrel muzzle every time i pumped it ?

hi just bought a secondhand fx independence the pressure gauge was reading nothing and i dont have a bottle so i thought i would use the pump lever on the gun to pump it up this didnt work when i pumped the lever i could hear and feel air escaping out of the end of the barrel, the last airgun i had was a break barrel bsa in 1974 so can anyone give me advise on what could be the problem please!

catamong why do you think you dont have as many "runners" with 7.5 shot 28 gm steel as you do with 36 gm 5s could it be the amount of pellet strikes are greater with the 7,5s due to the denser pattern so more chance of hitting a vital organ

thanks guys i was speeking to a wildfowlng friend who shoot a lot of duck and geese and also eat quite a few and he said he has never found any steel shot in the birds he has eaten
so that seem to indicate that indeed the shot do go straight thru !

Hi guys,
can anyone please explain what i experienced yesterday please
i have joined a local wildfowlers club for this season which mean i have to use non toxic shot for the first time in my life, i am a experienced shot and have regularly shot pigeons in large numbers for over 40 years.
so preparing to go on a duck shoot i thought i would take a walk around one of my permissions to try out the cartridges 3" game-bore mammoth #3 shot there where no ducks in the 3 ponds i checked out but then i saw a pigeon approaching in the distance heading straight for me it got to about 40 yds and veered of to the right so i took the shot it dropped like a stone no flapping straight down hit the ground and didn't move. sent the dog out she brought it back placed it in my outstretched hand and i placed it on the ground and waited to see if anymore would come along thinking these seem to work fine, then it was about 6-7 minutes later suddenly it started flapping and flew down the hedge line about a foot off the ground for about 60 yds and crashed down so i sent the dog out again she brought it back and i dispatched it .
i shoot about 1000 + pigeons a year as well as rabbits crows etc all with lead and cant ever remember this happening to me before, has anyone else experienced this with steel as some of the guys at the club said they have had the same thing with ducks before !
-
thanks guys all good advice and just for the record i shoot 32 gm 5s
-
thanks guys i will soon work it out
-
hi guys,
ive been shooting pigeons on a regular basis for over 40 years but this year i have joined a shoot syndicate as well and will soon be shooting pheasants and partridges and would like to ask for some advice from people who shoot both if i need to change my shooting style for example in general will i need heavier loads
and will they be flying much faster ..
-
yes youngmans in yarmouth is a proper stockist
-
i have both types and they are both good decoys but i only use them if i havent got any real birds as soon as i have i replace them ..
-
it is a armsan A612 went back to field today now its cut and shot another 114 from same spot all with georges proper stone dead carts
Must say my kill ratio is just as good with this gun as it is with my trusty old beretta 686 not bad for a cheap turkish gun i actually bought it for wildfowling as its fluer de lis stamped for magnum steel shot and 3" chamber so was just getting some practise in before the season
