  1. Any chance of a more details explanation? I don't know what the bites are or even how much it'll be to fix them. Thanks
  2. Hi guys, Notice my miroku ORE is loose between the barrels and the action when closed. Any ideas on the following: Is this a safety problem? How is this fixed? (It's an old gun) Are there different ways of fixing it? Any idea of a competent but cheap gunsmith in Gloucestershire? Thanks guys
  3. One bit of advice. Price consumables he same way tesco does for milk and bread. Ammo should be cheap, don't plan to make money on it, all it does is get people through the door. Once they're in the shop they pick other bits up and that's where you make the money. People always need ammo, just like they always need milk and bread. And when someone comes in for a look around, say hello (they already know to ask for your help should they need it) but leave them to look around peacefully without rushing them. Thats how sales are made.
  4. Looks more like a poaching tool to me? By the time you've got it ready to fire for self defense the crooks would be off with your money on on the next plane to timbuctu
  5. Oh ***! I've just got back to laptop and checked this post.... what an idiot i am! I guess apple auto correct is to blame here!
  6. Hi guys, My trusty (and old) pair of deer hunter ranger trousers fly zip has bust :-( I've been looking for a similar pair but can't find any anywhere. Basically these trousers are a pair of jeans but in camp and with cargo pockets. They're brilliant, hard wearing and the only thing that's bust is the zip. Any idea where i could get a decent replacement from? I've looks on uttings and sportsmanguncentre but nothing seems to be what I'm looking for. I have a fleeced pair for the winter so i just need something that i can wear often during the summer without sweating! Cheers in advance for the recommendations. P.s. Now for the hard part, £50 is the budget ;-)
  7. Ok, so i'm a little one sided as only own an S200 but i'd definitely recommend one. I have a 177 with an after market regulator and standard 10shop upgrade. It's a beautiful gun, extremely accurate 1 hole groups at 40yrds (no wind). The best thing i done to it was have it regulated, Darren from XTXAir fits them and they're amazing. I would pit my air rifle against an S300, S410 or S510 any day of the week. 177 shot count is 65+ and fps variation over the shots is no more than 5fps. I have mine paired up with a budget leupold m8 6x42 and it's phenomenal. I forgot to mention that the S200 is so light i can carry it all day in the field. :-)
  8. So my terrier is coming along nicely.... unless something decides to run from him!
  9. If there wasn't much blood i wouldn't bother with the vet, just a bit of savalon :-) If it swells or looks infected then go straight to the vets. Dogs do occasionally bite each other, its natural. You say your dog was running rings around the Shepard like usual, maybe your dog was annoying the Shepard? From what it sounds like your dog got a nip that it deserved so won't do that in the future. When i first got my Terrier he was a 'pain in the ***' for other dogs, and as such i let him learn his own lessons. Now he isn't as interested in other dogs and has learnt dog etiquette but it took him a few nips to get him this way. All in all this is part and parcel of being a dog owner. Now on the other hand.... if your dog was on a lead and the shepard came running over and bit your dog.... then that would be a different story (but regardless don't take it out on the dog, take it out on the owner!).
  10. Thinking we have left it long enough we took the dogs...Three dogs managed 37 rats (although one of the three dogs wasn't playing ball and didn't take one rat!?) We also shot plenty using an air pistol at close range that were hiding in a false partition between the barns. Was great fun but hard work for the dogs. They enjoyed a good rest that evening. We are going back in two weeks to see if we can get rid of some more now that we know where most of the holes are and where the rats are running to.
  11. My old boy who is no longer with us (profile picture) had a few of these on his under belly. The vet drained one of them but it grew back. We just left it, it never caused a problem as it didn't seem to get any bigger than a pea.
  12. Ok so far then we've got 4 against and 1 for going. I'll try and get down there tonight to clean up as much as possible (without the dog) and if i think it's just too risky i'll pull the dogs off it on monday. Shame really as it'll make a great end to a BH. Anyone ever had an issue with their dog at rat poison?
  13. Hi guys, Just had a call from a farmer who has a large rat problem. My mate has gone over to do a bit of a reccie and has identified the farmer has been using ruby paste and tomcat rat poison. We were intending to take 5 terriers over on monday evening but now am a bit unsure given that there has been poison down. We've instructed the farmer to go around and pick up all the poison and dead rats so that there will be none on the ground on Monday night but what other cautions should we take? Is it still safe to work the dogs or should we give it a miss? What concerns me is a dog eating poison that a rat has carried away and hash't been picked up or one of the dogs eating a dead rat (it happens). What would you do in this position? The difficulty is there will be four men and five dogs so we won't be able to keep 100% eyes on the dogs at all times. Many thanks
  14. What do you mean by a 'pigeon shooter guide'? Someone to take you out pigeon shooting? Someone to teach you? Someone to help you on your permission? I'm Gloucestershire.
  15. My bad, i'm sure the traps would work well but releasing them elsewhere is the issue. I've seen plenty of dead lambs and yews in a sorry state of affair from the things....
