  1. bad luck mate, will your insurance cover it? a few years back my father was clearing a site for Bernard mathews and hit underground phone lines, went to court as the map he had said the cables were half a mile away near the road, still had to pay though, cost his insurance a 6 figure sum.

No real headache teh guys who came out said whoever put the the angleiron fencing prior to me had run it right up the side of the pipe when I levered it out it fractured the join, not my fault and they have noted it on the call out as this.

So hope I dont get charged for the call out but I dont hold my breath .The meter was way off where the pipe was :o

    Keep you updated Cookie

  2. My mother in law lives in fawley in hampshire there a farm with maize stubble there it was full of woodies and the forest was full of birds still on acorns .

Strange you boys from southhampton are reporting so few birds.

    Cheers Cookie

  3. Just had to come home after damaging a gas mains, looks like the old iron post I removed had grazed the side when whoever wacked it in and when I pulled it out it damaged the pipe.

Bother was the few words I used worst thing is I metered the site and the meter said it a good two foot from where it was and confirm the gas boards own map, also it was all of 500mm under the ground a good garden fork could of reached it.

Still there goes the money on this job hoo hum said the wombles .

  4. It just shows the huge diffrents in areas from week to week here in oxfordshire we had a real lean time.now we have tens of thousands all on rape and only switching if we have some drilling then there back on the rape.

We shot alot last week over wheat drilling and there back on the rape next to it ,but we have alot of clover leys and if we get the warm weather predicted for the end of the week withthe rain a flush of clover and rape will happen.

  6. Umm you boys need to do a bit of research on clover and its protein levels for livestock .

A pigeon damages clover just like any other crop which in turn means less for the farmers livestock to graze on product milk or meat.

Well done Tom lots here on two year red clover leys wind looks strong wensday will have a go on a clover ley under a wood that favours a strong S/W wind.

  7. As we have had one of best seasons ferretting longnetting etc we still on the same ground that we have spent most of the last two months working .

We returned to area we caught 30ish only two sundays ago a deep sandy bank with a lilac hedge preventing purse netting so run a 200 yard longnet with some purse nets doing the odd hole on the outside.

It was slow at first as the rabbits where hole hoping instead of running for cover but we finnished with another 15 not bad considering we had ferretted it already.

The huge area grazed by rabbits not helped by the cold wet ground

You can see the graze line where at its extreme limit it slighly greens up.

  8. Had a reasonable night see sporting pictures,as Tom says the birds are feeding alot later than two weeks ago so turning up before 3 is waste of time if you ask me if it close to your home 430 even better.

Shoot birds on OSR till 4 this week say week as last year all change the bags will be steadly improving now yipee.

  9. After the heavy rain all morning it cleared and offered some hope of a bit of flighting tonight.

No wind but plenty of birds pitching into so massive 50mts populars and ash .

The birds where tracking the ditch and into them in good sized groups giving some testing shots to give even the best shots a run for there money .

All full of rape and them fed very late I am guessing the rain put them off feeding in morning .

Finnised with total of 9 in a hour of hot sport where I let of too many rounds but I had a great evening.

Amazed at how the nights are creeping out and spring in our neck off the woods just itch to be sprung.

No fear of getting lofters up thease monsters.

I thought this picture depicts most images of roosting lots of empty rounds and very few woodies.

The boys worked great tonight in some very diffcult scent conditons in very swamp like area, they seems to be looking to say is that all you got for all those rounds.

  11. Ask farmer dont forget there is alot of landowners who seek to leave deadwood for habitat reasons and this could be the case with your situ.

Most of my havesting of timber comes with terms to leave a certain amount of log piles for habitat even some requesting to leave a few standing deadwood trees.

    Cheers OTH
