  10. I am new to this crow shooting game i got some full body flocked ones from a1 decoy. They where £40 plus postage but i am very happy with them they came with feet and a ground spike.
  11. Well as i write this i am so happy. As some of you may have seen from my previous posts i have been giving crow shooting a go.This is something that i had never done before. It started when i was asked if i could try an control the numbers that where digging a carrot field up,an that was it i loved it.So yesterday i was out again. With the new flocked decoys i had got a flapper and two floaters.Arrived at the field to see the most i had on a field, set up in a thick hedge with the wind blowing left to right and it started well plenty of birds about but none would come near. After about a hour of this and only 4 in the bag i took the flapper and floaters down this had the affect with birds now coming into the pattern. Over the next few hour managed to hit some missed many more but ended the day with 118 in the bang and 5 pigeons this is the biggest bag i have ever had never shot over 100 before on pigeons never mind the blacks, sorry if i have gone on abit but was just so happy roll on next weekend think i will be leaving the new toys at home and just taking the decoys.

  13. Set up with my 8 new crow decoys to the left, then had 10 pigeon decoys to the right in a u shape with a floater just back from that.It seemed to work ok made for some interesting shooting. Thanks for all the comments.
  14. Just a pic of the bag for saturday. Was out again after the blacks. With it blowing a gale finial managed to get set up with the wind and sun in my back. Found that they decoyed alot better dont know if this was down to my set up,the new decoys or the fact that i dont think they had been decoyed for a while.Manged to end up with 57 blacks and 22 pigeons. Thanks to the people who commented on my last post tried to put your tips into practice.
  15. Thanks for that will give it a go at first light then,as i say i dont realy know alot about decoying crows.Didnt even know that they drill cereal with carrots,so definate learning curve for me but thanks for the tips
  16. If you would like number of a good builder who lives in the selby area am happy to pass it on he has done alot of work for me and happy with it all
  17. Tried something i have never done before today.First was asked to go try and shoot some crows that where slowily digging up a field which had been drilled with carrots. Never having decoyed crows before a borrowed some decoys and set off,got to the field to find around 30 on.Set up in a hedge with my 6 decoys around 20 yards infront of me. After around half hour a few had come over but just stayed out of range.so placed more cover over the front of the hide an kept my head down abit more this seemed to do the trick as the next bird came in swear it would have landed if i had let it. That was the first of 27 should have had more but just couldnt seem to get my eye in.Around lunch it died off abit but a few pigeons had started to mill about after getting a couple and adding them to the pattern found a few more started to come my way.Added another 10 to the bag and 2 more crows. Ended the day with 29 blacks and 12 pigeons.realy enjoyed myself had never shot on carrots before or at crows but leanrt alot.Hoping to get out again one night this week will take the camera this time and take some pics.
  18. Welcome pal your just up the road
  19. Like mine have put all sorts in it and never had a problem.used it for clays and game start to realy have some good results on the pigeons with it.
  20. Well with new hide poles in hand was wanting to give them a try. There was a small field of rape that i had seen a few on,so loaded up and set off.Got to the field to find about 20birds on.Set up a U shape pattern with 4 floaters and my back to a old railway bank.Wind was blowing from my right before long a few birds started to decoy well coming from over the bank.managed to end up with a bag of 28 for 3 and abit hours.Very happy.
