  1. Several hours a go our Senate approved parliments bill to cancel the long gun registry in Canada. After over 15 years of fighting we finally got rid of a useless law. Pistols still need registration but are quite easy to obtain anyway.Eight million Canadian gun owners are a happy bunch tonight. Now we are moving on to remove or change other useless laws. Cheers from Canada
  2. I use a foxpro here in Canada, mostly for coyotes but a few red fox. Coyotes will often come on the run but fox are shy.Do you know if your reds are the same species as ours? I saw some dead ones in England and they looked slimmer and rangier, but maybe the thicker coats here build them up. Coyote hides are worth 55 lbs this year but reds maybe 20. Great fun in the winter.
  3. If he likes to shoot and hunt come to Canada. My buddy drives in the oil sands and makes 300 lbs a day plus his room and meals free. The companies are crying for drivers and if you have a job offer is easy to immigrate. Ps - we do not need any any more welfare bums or layabouts- have lots already.
  4. A lot of cops all over the world are not gun enthusiasts/ just do it as part of the job. Here in Canada a cop shot his best friend in the head from a few inches with an "unloaded pistol" during a training exercise (DEAD) Another mountie was startled while in a ranchers yard and -slapped leather-and shot himself in the leg.The lying cop said the rancher did it but a judge only took two hours to decide otherwise. Most of our cops just carry to get the pay check/ a scary few are looking for a reason to shoot.
  5. I read about you ordering from the US. There is now a Cabelas in Canada with the same products as the US. However there are no anal export restrictions here so no problems shipping if you can have it there. They have a web page cabelas.ca .The americans are even checking Canadians leaving the US for powder, bullets, ammo etc. They set up road blocks a few hundred yard back of the border. Our customs people don't much care what you bring back as long as declared. It also takes about a month to get import liocence for a firearm to hunt or shoot in the US. Al you have to do here is show ,register and pay $25.00. For a country like the US to be so uptight about scopes and bullets is sort of humerous considering all the guns there. I live in Saskatchewan about 90 milles from Montana and not uncommon to see a few people packing in downtown Malta.
  6. Never thought of anyone not bringing a gun but no it does not include ammo but I guess you could borrow mine. You can bring up to 10 firearms for a registration fee of $25.00 for all. Our customs people see alot of hunters so isn't a problem. You can even get a possesion and aqisition licence and buy all you want here. But as a non -res you couldn't buy a pistol. regards dogone
  7. Yes there is an ice rink near but not used in summer. All ice rinks now have artificial ice but to expensive to make in hot weather. I do have a reloading facility and indoor pistol range though.
  8. My advise is to get a friend in Canada. We have almost everything the americans have at similar prices. Also: although we have much stricter firearm laws than the US we are not so anal about exporting any minute part of a firearm. The americans are trying to stop global terrorism by banning the export of shooting gloves(a joke)
  9. You are a hopeful fellow if you think that includes airfare.NO it doesn't. I farm near a town called Morse in the province of Saskatchewan. The town is on the trans Canada highway between Swift Current and Moose Jaw.
  10. The base price is 500 lbs plus 5% tax for three days. This include motel room and all transportation while shooting. Six days would be 1000.Meals available in local restaurants. Very empty country compared to England;only 250 people in town and half thet within 20 miles. I have more land to shoot on than I could ever get to.
  11. I posted last spring but was probably to late for any one to get set up. I have a plague of ground squirrels,500 shots a day likely.I also have steel out to 1000 and more yards. There is an indoor and outdoor pistol range for use also(you can use my pistols) I also have a complete reloading setup to use.may and june are the best months.
  12. I am an obsessed reader. The pile grows monthly.Mostly guns/shooting/hunting. I also farm and fly so some of those. If you have an interest in Canada PM your address and I will send a package of mags. You send me an equal pile in return. There will be the usual American mags so if you get them let me know and I will not include. an old indian saying; a man can never have too many guns or dogs but one wife is just right.
  13. mickeyfinn-I never heard you were in Canada. When Prince Harry is training here we hear all about it. He comes to Suffield Base ,near Medicine Hat. You must have wanted to keep a low profile.
  14. Over here in Canada we gad to switch to steel for ducks and geese about 15 years ago. I guided about 40 hunters a year for waterfowl so got a first hand view of the results. There were many more birds flew off after a solid hit. IF recovered (sometimes half a mile) the steel had gone right through like a bullet. More cripples. Now most serious shooters use hevi-shot or bismuth. We still use lesd for grays and grouse.
  15. Stiv21 you went west from Calgary,I am east. Gram71 -Your uncle is about 2000 miles eat of me near Toronto. Check one of those google maps. Find the Province of Saskatchewan, then find the Trans Canada Hiway. On the hiway are two cities. One is Moose Jaw the other Swift Current.I am at a small town between them called Morse, actually my farm is 5 miles south of town. I have a great neighbour, a war bride, came from London, didn't know a chicken from a cow but stayed.Husband was bomber pilot , shot down and spent two years in German prison camp.
  16. Check flights into REGINA , Saskatcewan(about 2 hour drive to my place) and also into Calgary ,Alberta(about 6 to my place) I would probably pick you up in Regina. If you were spending a few days extra then Calgary is only 60 miles from the Rocky Mountains, cowboys and all that.
  17. The gophers will be out in numbers till august. Then they start hibernating. The young will be here in about two weeks. For a good shoot should come before august. Also the occasional crow and magpie. I don't know if they are direct relation to your birds but have the same attitude.
  18. It is a long trip but may be interesting. I am a farmer and outfitter in western Canada (Saskatchewan) We are in the middle of a gopher plague. 500 shots a day would be common. They are a ground squirrel about the size of tree squirrels. Custom made for rimfires and small centerfire. As a exploratory special I am offering three days with motel room for 225lbs.Also airport pickup. It isn't culling in Africa but could be interesting. Of course you could travel the west while here. Firearms easy to enter with. Party of 3 or 4 would be great. regards
