  4. No it is definitely not a coral , my reason for asking is the fact that its multi choked could mean its a later gun, i have two corals and i rate them highly.

  6. thanks for the info, the factory i visited at eibar at one time employed up to 500 staff and was opened in 1939, it was after the Diarm period that aya joined forces with the King brother who started Asi and set aya on the right track by taking a couple of english guns to spain so that aya could see the standard of guns made in the uk. All interesting stuff, if you message me the serial number i can give you the age of the gun. Good luck with the sale, its a lovely gun, cheers Geoff

  15. Hi Mungler it would have been good for a group of lads, but mine was with the wife and our 12 year old Cocker Spaniel, in fact he was the star of the trip, he slept through most of the rough stuff and the heat seemed to have no effect on him, as soon as the engine started he jumped in the back ready for the next leg,
  16. I have just returned from 15 days transversing the Pyreneese mountains. i was driving a landrover 110 and my brother in law was using his Isuzu trooper, We had a fantastic time the trip at times was really hard going driving over deep gullies large boulders where low range an diff lock was the order of the day, the isuzu suffered with lack of ground clearance, the nearside window fell out and his seat collapsed with the constant pounding, the 110 suffered steering failure due to a garage fitting a jubilee clip on the pressure side of the steering pump which luckily failed just as we pulled into a car park in a busy town, i shudder to think what might have happened on the mountain, also due to the pounding the battery holder worked loose and eventually the positive terminal of the battery snapped off, luckily the isuzu had twin batteries so we nicked one and was back on the road in np time at all. This trip is for serious 4x4 vehicles my Xtrail could not have coped with the terrain and you do need low range, the weather was on our side which made the going easier, had it been wet we would have struggled on some of the trails. The Scenery was stunning and varied, if any of you have ever thought of doing the trip go for its a wonderful experience, We saw Marmots, Egyptian Eagles, and Mouflon along the way,
  17. what a good idea someone will snap that up
  18. Hi i find your add a little confusing. do you have a pair of these lovely guns for sale as in one add you say sub 1000 carts in the other you say sub 500 carts ?
  19. Hi the new owner is my son, and as you say he will look after it and if he don't he will be in big trouble, even though he is forty this year. cheers Geoff
  20. Hi What a lovely gun, i would be interested to know the length of pull and if it is steel proofed, thanks.
  21. I have owned a Diesel x-trail for twelve years it has now covered 112000 miles at around 30,000 i had the turbo and intercooler replaced under guarantee but since then its been fine, if you intend towing a heavy trailer the gearing quiet high and constant towing leads to duel mass flywheel problems, mine has been replaced with a solid flywheel and pulls a twin axle caravan with ease, fuel consumption is good on average 38mpg but driving at around 65mph on frence motorways i have achieved 46mpg, Would i buy another one, Yes i would its a great little car.
  22. Hi i have a set of 5 sixteen inch wheels with two virtually new general grabbers and not sure without looking whats on the rest but all roadworthy, i bought them because i have seventeen inch wheels and you are very limited for a/t tyres of that size, so i would use road tyres through the summer and a/t in the winter, i now have a defender so the sixteen inch set are redundant if you are interested send me a pm and maybe we could do a deal. cheers Geoff
  23. Hi for a budget of £5000 to £6000 you should pick up a tidy 90 or 110 but don't go for the 2.5 na diesel engine as said earlier they are very slow, i would look for a 200 or 300 tdi, when you go to view one, take the floor mats out and look for rust. check the bulkhead outriggers, rear cross member and the underside of all doors, also have a good look at the bulkhead. all these places are prone to rust, look for leaks around the steering box also the swivel joints. when you go for a test drive check that the steering is not wandering all over the place, The good thing about defenders is the parts are cheap and readily available, check out paddock spares, fuel wise expect to get around 28mpg. most standard defenders have a 1.4 ratio transfer box and at 60mph the revs are quiet high and it gets a bit noisy but if you are not towing heavy loads you can use a transfer box from a discovery which is 1.2 ratio an it will happily cruise at motorway speeds all day. be prepared to get stuck in and do some work on it, look after it, and in five years if fancy a change you will get your money back and maybe a bit more.
  24. What a shame, i have just bought a similar set of radios for our shoot, i would have had these, and saved a lot of cash into the bargain.
