  1. I just wore a pair of moleskin trousers, a check type shirt, tie and jumper. You dont need anything flash or expensive. As long as you look presentable, clean and dont have rips in everything you should be fine.
  2. I am looking for a beating place on a shoot in Essex, preferably around Braintree but am willing to travel within reason. I have not beaten before but have been on a couple of shoots so know a bit about them. I can only really do weekends. I know its not the season yet but it will soon be upon us so if anyone can assist it would be most appreciated.
  3. You cant buy cart's around here with a copy. I have a copy of my cert in my slip that stays in there and its pretty much forgotten about. My original stays at home unless i need to buy some carts.
  4. I wouldn't worry to much about brand names. The basic concept is that a few thin layers will keep you a lot warmer than a couple of thick layers. So any thin long sleeved top will do the job. I have a couple of helly hansen lifa tops that I used to wear in the army which are really good for keeping you warm plus if you do get a sweat on then it wicks the sweat away from the body so you dont get a chill but long sleeved cotton t-shirts do a similar job.
  5. Yes you can use an iphone on payg. A phone locked to a specific provider i.e. O2 will be cheaper than one that can be used on any network. I looked at doing payg and in the end went on a contract as the payg data bundles were quite expensive and iphone can use quite a lot of data, just something to consider.
  6. I have recently got a Hyundai Tucsan. It is good on road and gives me 36-37mpg for a 2ltr diesel. It has decent ground clearance and can be put in 4 wheel drive. I know it wont do serious off road stuff, but for getting on and off fields and doing verges and rutted tracks it does the job for me. I have found it a good compromise between a car and an off roader.
  7. What a pathetic response from Eley. It wouldn't have been fun if it was a 20 gauge cart that 'accidently slipped through the net' into a box of 12 gauge carts.
  8. Welcome from a fellow Braintree man.
  9. Travelodge Covent Garden. Its not in Covent Garden but on Drury Lane. walking distance to Covent Garden, Leicester Square and Shaftesbury Avenue so near most theatres. I have stayed there before. Its budget hotel but reasonably priced for a central location. Its good if you just want somewhere clean to sleep and you are eating out.
  10. You say you are starting out on clays and you might just stick with rifles. There lies your problem me thinks. I used to do all rifle shooting and when I started with a shotgun I was pretty hopeless. Whatever you have learnt for rifle shooting, do not apply it to shotgun shooting. You need more of a flow with a shotgun and the most difficult bit, I found, is judging how much lead to give each target. Try not to think about it too much, relax, enjoy and it will soon come to you. Good luck and keep practising.
  11. Cant believe the case cost about £8m for avoiding tax on just under £200k. What a waste of money!
  12. Im just finishing a dissertation on it. The pay back on an average system with the original tariff, based in Essex, is approximately 11 years. When the FIT tariff drops the payback is approximately 20 years. Most of the installation will require replacing at about 20-25 years. If you started the process of getting the panels installed now it is very unlikely you will get the higher tariff.
